What inspired you to start your journey as a confidence coach?
It started years ago, though I didn’t realize it then. I moved to the U.S. from the Philippines at 17, and the culture shock stripped me of my confidence. The fast-paced life, different language, and cultural differences made me question myself—Who am I to be heard? Am I good enough? My confidence hit rock bottom again after going through a divorce at 23. But everything changed when I met a coach who, in just two months, taught me what takes some people years to learn—self-care, self-worth, and the importance of putting yourself first. From there, I dived deep into personal development, built my confidence, and realized not everyone has access to this support. That’s when I decided to help other women overcome doubts and fears by tapping into the confidence they already hold within.

What were some challenges you faced when starting your career?
There were many, especially the uncertainty of where to start. For instance, I had a vision of speaking in front of thousands, but how could I do that when I still struggled with self-confidence and public speaking? I stuttered, I doubted myself. But I learned that I didn’t need to know every step—just the next one. Comparing our beginning to someone else’s middle only holds us back. So I took that first step—researching, finding programs for coaching and speaking—and gradually became a certified speaker, coach, and facilitator.

Can you share a proud achievement that holds special meaning to you?
Publishing my book is one of my proudest moments. It’s the book I wish I had during my self-confidence journey—a resource women can turn to on their tough days, filled with tangible tools to guide them. Professionally, hearing from mentees who tell me, “I followed your advice, focused on my goals, and landed the job,” reminds me that even small acts of guidance can create life-changing impact.

Do you work solo, or do you have a team supporting you?
Both. I run my own business, Confidently You, but I’m also involved with other organizations. I co-host The Leader’s Edge, an international radio show, and I’m part of The Alchemist Group, which focuses on shifting negative narratives in our local community. Together, we empower residents to recognize their value and embrace a positive mindset.

What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
Women have been effective leaders for a long time—our strengths lie in nurturing and relationship-building. The difference today is that more women are supporting each other rather than competing. The opportunities are greater, and we’re normalizing women lifting each other up, fixing each other’s crowns, and celebrating one another’s success. That’s the kind of world I want to see grow.

How do you personally define success?
For me, success is freedom—the freedom to help my family, to do what I love without constantly worrying about finances, and to bring others along with me on the journey. My ultimate goal isn’t just success; it’s significance. My mentor, John Maxwell, taught me that success is good, but significance—empowering others and making an impact—is where true fulfillment lies.

What are your short-term goals for this year?
This year is a huge milestone for me—I’ve placed my notice to leave my healthcare job, where I’ve worked for over a decade. My short-term goal is to fully transition into focusing on my coaching, speaking, and consulting businesses. It’s a leap, but I’m ready to embrace this next chapter.

“You don’t need to know the whole path—just the next step. Confidence already exists within you; sometimes, you just need to uncover it.”
