Clare Downham

Clare Downham is a Soulful Success Mentor. She tells us that she considers herself, A butterfly because I love the sense of complete transformation from the caterpillar turning into a butterfly. I also love the quote, “Just when the caterpillar thought it was in a really dark place, it woke up and realised it was a butterfly””

What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?

I love the phrase work-life integration. In the main this means living from a place of true presence and being guided by my body. When I am tired and rest, when I am hungry I eat etc. I also work with wellbeing and no brainers like exercise, light, human connection, healthy food. As an organic being these are vital.

I don’t have a set routine but work very flexibly and in an integrated way. I may sometimes have a nap on a Monday afternoon but other times I may work on a Sunday morning. I find presence to be more beneficial than rigid habits.

When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?

I just take the next step. I take time out for silence and reflection. I sit with the feelings which arise. I trust my inner guidance. I see that there are no such things as mistakes.

We are always only ever taking the next step so I rarely get into the future. I have a direction of travel which guides my decision making but I do not have a rigid plan. That makes change easier and more graceful.

How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?

For me, life always comes before business always. Success for me is very much about my life being in a place I want it to be. Business comes second. This is all part of the life-work integration I already mentioned.

I love getting feedback from the people I serve. I get a lot of feedback on Insight Timer and it is a great measure of my impact. This is also pivotal in me seeing how successful I am in creating transformation for the people I support.

Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?

I think my work on Insight Timer is significant in this regard. I now have 30 courses of the APP and every day I get to see the impact I am having. I was also inspired to follow my intuition and train others to teach on the APP. This lit me up and created significant growth in my business.

What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?

As an ILM qualified mentor and coach I see mentoring as vital for small businesses owners. For a couple of years I have been volunteering on the UK’s Help to Grow Scheme which has been an absolute pleasure.

Throughout my own business journey I have had a wide range of mentoring support in every area of business. This has and still is highly impactful.

What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?

My work is all about helping female entrepreneurs to reveal their true potential so they can be, do and feel their very best in every aspect of their life.

My USP is that I help them to do that without giving them lots of extra things to do. I provide them with the antidote to self-development and a deep connection to their innate wisdom, peace and love.
