Tell us about your life before the venture/ leading up to your venture?
Prior to setting up my own business, I had worked in various roles in the Environmental Sector in England and Canada. I initially trained as a Landscape Architect and then moved into Environmental Impact Assessment and project management. This was followed by team leadership roles and then more senior management and leadership positions. Up until June of this year I was working as a Director for a Conservation Authority in Ontario.
Tell us something about your organization. What is it about and how is it helpful for people?
I set Aspire Executive Coaching up because I could see a need for leadership development support. This support is needed for seasoned leaders who are maybe struggling with certain areas and for those who are new to leadership or perhaps trying to get into a leadership position. There is always something new to learn and improve upon and often as leaders it can feel lonely and like you have no-one to help you.
What has been the response of the consumers towards your venture?
My clients are motivated and action oriented individuals and they have so far loved my coaching and how it develops them. A number of clients have gone on from my coaching to achieve more significant leadership positions within 3-6 months of my program.
How has your life changed because of your venture?
I am a lot happier and fulfilled since I set my own business up. Of course there are challenges but the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Give a motivational message for the audience/women who are reading this.
I think self belief can be the hardest thing to maintain with any new initiative, career goal or project. The key is to maintain focus on the long term goal, acknowledge all the small steps you have made so far and keep going! You can do it – just take a deep breath, dust yourself down and continue.
