Meet Rosa Lokaisingh, a seasoned leader, coach, and community-builder whose journey spans corporate, entrepreneurial, and not-for-profit worlds. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago and now based in Canada, Rosa’s story is one of resilience, transformation, and purpose. After decades of experience in banking, retail, recruiting, and international non-profits, she stepped into her calling—helping professionals and executives break free from corporate life and step into entrepreneurship with meaning and heart.

Her journey reminds us that true success is not transactional but transformational—built on compassion, clarity, and connection.

Q: Rosa, can you tell us a little about your personal background?
I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago and have been living in Canada for the last 50 years. I come from a large East Indian family with 10 siblings, and I’m an aunt to 17 nieces and nephews whom I absolutely adore. I have no children of my own, but that’s perhaps why I value my role as an aunt so deeply. Family and culture have been integral parts of who I am.

Q: What inspired your transition from corporate to starting your own venture?
I spent many years in banking, retail management, and then recruiting and placement. I loved coaching people individually, but I saw that traditional systems only served the top few, leaving many without opportunities. Later, in the non-profit sector, I worked with internationally trained professionals for 15 years, but even there I noticed toxic patterns similar to corporate culture.

I knew I wanted to build something different—a business community rooted in compassion, caring, and service for the greater good. In 2017, I took the leap and started my own company, Connecting You.

Q: How has your journey evolved since then?
My journey had many iterations. I began as a networking coach, then became an alignment coach—helping people align their vision with their values. Later, I hosted matchmaking retreats to connect entrepreneurs with potential partners. That eventually led me to my current work as a Breakthrough Coach and Capitalist, helping professionals and executives leave corporate life and pursue entrepreneurship with clarity, focus, and purpose.

Q: How do you usually reach your audience and clients?
I rely a lot on strategic networking, referrals, and hosting events like workshops, masterclasses, and networking sessions. Referrals are especially close to my heart because they are built on trust and service. While I do use LinkedIn and Facebook, I know I could be more active digitally, and that’s something I’m working on improving.

Q: What goals are you working toward now?
One of my biggest goals is to deliver a TED Talk, hopefully by the end of 2025. I love speaking and know that reaching larger audiences will amplify my message. I also want to impact at least 100,000 people in the next five years, and I’m working toward scaling my business to generate $5 million in revenue over the next two years. On a practical level, I’m looking to expand my team with coaches, a VA, and a marketing assistant.

Q: What challenges have you faced along this journey?
My biggest challenge has been my resistance to technology. I’ve realized that my hesitation around tools and AI has slowed my growth. While I can handle the basics, I haven’t leveraged technology enough to scale effectively. Recognizing this has been eye-opening, and I’m working on shifting my mindset so I can clear that block and fully embrace the tools that will help me grow.

“My message is simple: wake up and choose who you want to become. Success isn’t just about what you do—it’s about who you surround yourself with and the environment you create. Align your vision with your values, and success will follow.” – Rosa Lokaisingh
