What if the biggest threat to leadership growth isn’t a lack of ambition—but having too much of it?
For Lisa Van Der Kamp, leadership is not about doing more. It is about helping people focus on what matters, grow with confidence, and build success without sacrificing the life they value. Her journey from corporate leadership to coaching reflects a broader lesson for today’s entrepreneurs: sustainable growth requires intentionality, not constant acceleration.
Through Humans of Fuzia (HOF), a global thought-leadership platform at the intersection of leadership, entrepreneurship, coaching, women empowerment and socially conscious business, these journeys become practical lessons for coaches, founders and small business leaders navigating growth.
From Corporate Leadership to Leadership Coaching
Lisa’s leadership journey began early. A competitive dancer through high school and college, she credits those experiences with shaping her first understanding of leadership. Later, during more than a decade in Colorado and a growing corporate career, she discovered a deeper passion: developing people.
She noticed a critical gap—“I saw lots of bosses and managers, very few true leaders.”
That realization ultimately led her to build her own coaching practice.
Becoming a parent became another defining moment. Lisa wanted to model the courage to pursue meaningful aspirations rather than simply talk about them. “I wanted to live by example of doing that myself.”
Building Business Growth Systems Without Burning Out
Lisa now works primarily one-on-one with leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals. Her coaching begins with clarity: understanding where a client is, defining their vision and establishing strategies to move forward.
Her work addresses challenges increasingly common in 2026: burnout, competing priorities, leadership confidence, executive presence and the complexity of growing responsibilities.
One principle stands out: reclaim your time and focus on your priorities.
For entrepreneurs, that can translate into clearer ICP definition, stronger messaging, structured sales funnels, deliberate delegation and scalable business systems. Speaking, workshops, group coaching and authority-building can then become strategic extensions—not distractions from the core business.
Entrepreneurship Is a Marathon, Not a Sprint
Lisa is currently building toward several long-term goals, including writing a book, expanding into speaking, and potentially developing group coaching and retreat-based programs.
Yet she refuses to treat growth as a race.
“I recognize that this is a marathon, not a sprint.”
That mindset is particularly relevant for small business leadership. Sustainable entrepreneurship means choosing the right sequence of growth, rather than launching everything simultaneously.
Lisa also highlights the power of entrepreneurial community. She believes surrounding yourself with other entrepreneurs, coaches and mentors makes the journey more effective—and less isolating.
Execution Tip
Audit your calendar this week: identify one activity that consumes time without moving your highest-priority business or leadership goal forward. Eliminate, delegate or postpone it.
Lisa’s story offers a powerful reminder: leadership development and business growth are not simply about scale. They are about building a business—and a life—that can be sustained.
For coaches, entrepreneurs and socially conscious leaders, Humans of Fuzia continues to create a space where real journeys, practical growth systems and meaningful leadership lessons intersect.
