Fearless Business: The Journey of Robin Waite

Robin Waite is the Founder of Fearless Business, a regular speaker at various business events, and a bestselling author of several books, including Online Business Startup, Marketing Machine, and the recent popular release Take Your Shot.

Outside of work, he is a dedicated husband and father who enjoys walking his two dogs in the English countryside, escaping to the sea for surfing, cycling, filming content for his YouTube channel, and writing books.

Could you elaborate on the nature of your business, highlighting its purpose and the ways it benefits people?
Fearless Business is a business accelerator for coaches, consultants, and freelancers. Our aim is to help our clients escape the time-for-money trap by productizing their services and selling their value based on the amazing results and outcomes they achieve for their clients. This requires learning how to articulate the value of their offer, improve at handling sales conversations, and confidently charge more.

What inspired you to start your journey as a coach and entrepreneur? Were there any specific events, challenges, or people that motivated you to take this path?
Becoming a coach and entrepreneur kind of happened by chance.

I’ve always had a passion for business. As a teenager, I was obsessed with business plans and making money for myself. I graduated from doing paper rounds and waiting tables to starting my first side hustle in the early 2000s, building data scraping tools and eventually buying and selling laptops on eBay.

I ran a marketing agency from 2004 to 2016 in the UK, growing it to about £250k in revenue with a small team. However, as my family grew, the late nights and constant demands from clients and my team began to wear on me.

In 2016, after experiencing burnout, I decided it was time for a change. As I was about to shut down the agency, someone made an offer to buy it, which allowed me to take a break and spend time with my family.

Soon, I started missing the business world. People heard I had sold my agency and sought my advice. What started as casual coffee chats turned into a formal coaching program. I was encouraged by my life coach, Michael Serwa, to pursue business coaching seriously.

My coaching style is fun and focused. I simplify complex business ideas into actionable steps and help clients overcome the common challenge of overcomplicating things.

Looking back at the beginning of your career, what were the major challenges you faced when establishing yourself as a leader/coach? How did you overcome those obstacles?
I launched Fearless Business in 2017 to help coaches, consultants, and freelancers break free from the traditional time-for-money trap. Initially, I conducted one-on-one coaching, but as my brand grew internationally, I shifted entirely online by 2018. On January 1st, 2019, I launched the Fearless Business Accelerator with 30 entrepreneurs. This online group-based program provides lifetime access to a growing community of over 175 members.

From the start, I took strategic steps like getting a professional headshot, publishing books, speaking at events, and appearing on podcasts. In my first year, I spoke at 48 local business events, hosted 12 large events, and appeared on 40 podcasts.

However, this intense schedule led to burnout. Transitioning my business online saved me 15-20 hours per week, improving my work-life balance.

Over time, I also struggled with imposter syndrome, feeling I didn’t belong among top business leaders. However, I realized these successful individuals were once in my position and are often willing to support others who add value, act authentically, and remain patient. As my confidence grew, I recognized that I deserved my place at the table.

Would you like to share any remarkable achievements?
My clients own their achievements, but I take great pride in guiding them. One of my standout clients, James and Laura, aimed to generate enough recurring income to take August off to spend time with their children. We achieved this goal within 18 months. They also saved for their dream wedding, bought their first home, and expanded their business, allowing Laura to leave her public sector job to join full-time.

Personally, I hold a Guinness World Record for participating in the largest speed-networking event. I was also awarded the Small Business Supplier of the Year by IPSE and was a finalist for the Paseda360 Coaching Awards for Business Coach of the Year. My books have sold over 35,000 copies, achieving international bestseller status. One of my biggest highlights was being featured on Ali Abdaal’s Deep Dive podcast, which received 275,000 YouTube views and generated over 3,000 leads for my coaching practice.

Women are a growing force in workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. What are your thoughts about women in leadership today?
I am fortunate that 70% of my clients are women, many of them mothers. The women in the Fearless Crew are incredibly supportive and bring diverse perspectives to business challenges. My wife also works at a high level as a partner in a law firm.

Women often have to work twice as hard as men to achieve and maintain leadership positions while balancing family responsibilities. Although we have seen progress, gender biases, unequal pay, and underrepresentation in boardrooms remain major barriers. The business world greatly benefits from women leaders, who bring unique and effective leadership styles that foster innovation and inclusivity.

What message/advice would you have for future women leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs?
To all future women leaders and entrepreneurs: You have what it takes to make an impact. Your voice and perspective are invaluable in the business world. Don’t hesitate to step up and share your ideas—they are as important as anyone else’s, and you’ve earned your place at the table.

Surround yourself with mentors and peers who challenge and support you. Keep going even when things get tough; every challenge is a learning opportunity. Take risks, innovate, and don’t be afraid to break the mold.

Success in business and life is about fearing things just a little less and pushing through anyway.
