What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.
I was raised by a Youth Development Consultant. As such, I had a front row view of the trauma of life – and the power of resilience. Having the honor to watch the transformation that can take place taught me the importance of choosing the road less travelled; and being very selective in the path I select.
Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say YES, go for it!”
Education is the game changer. Specifically, education about self and others. Growing up observing young people change the trajectory of their life had a powerful impact on me. These lives, pre-determined to be cogs in society’s wheel by circumstance, changed through intentional actions derived from education and personal development. I want to see the world learn.
Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?
We do not lift ourselves up through pushing others down. We lift ourselves up by lifting others. Support others and have the courage to contribute to the best version of those around you and you will be lifted through what you learn in these transactions!
Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women leadership today?
Base your worth on your knowledge, skills, and talent and let that be your foot forward. Your value is not created nor negated by your gender. Know what you bring to the table and stand hard on THAT!
What’s the most important thing you have learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?
A positive attitude will make for a good day. Good decisions make for a great life. Think your decisions through and carefully consider the impact of your actions – many will last a lifetime.
With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?
It is not so much about what you do as it is about what you do before you do what you are about to do. This will heavily impact your results. Meaning, build the foundation of relationships, connections, network, understanding, and knowledge building. Whatever you want to do today will rely on what you built yesterday. Therefore, be building today for tomorrow!
