Guiding Purposeful Transformations: The Journey of S. Renee Walker

S. Renee Walker

Born and raised in Brooklyn, S. Renee Walker began her academic journey at Penn State studying Psychology before transferring to FIT, where she earned a degree in Advertising & Marketing Communications. With nearly nine years of experience in HR Recruitment and a background in fashion, she understands career pivots firsthand. Now, as a certified Life & Career Coach, she is passionate about helping others navigate their own transitions.

Fun facts about Renee: she loves HGTV, hospital dramas, and dance workouts (because burpees are the worst). Her guilty pleasure is bread, and she has a tendency to get a little too detailed when telling stories.

Through life’s ups and downs, her faith has guided her, leading to the creation of Purpos3ful Coaching—a platform where she helps others step into their purpose with confidence.

If your business could have a mascot, what would it be and why?

A butterfly, because they powerfully represent embracing the process of change and transformation to reach one’s fullest potential. Every journey is unique, and true growth happens before the world even sees it. Just like a butterfly, transformation takes time, but the result is powerful and beautiful.

What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?

I start each day with intention, positioning myself in faith and gratitude. I create a to-do list that includes tasks for work, my business, and personal life (things like workout classes, cooking, and laundry). My work hours are set at eight hours, and I schedule everything else around that—whether before work, during lunch, or after. While I sleep a little less than I used to, I function well on at least six hours. Weekends give me more flexibility to focus on my business and personal life, helping me maintain balance.

When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?

If I’m being honest, I take everything one day at a time. I have countless ideas that live in my mind and on paper (not literally—more like phone notes and word docs), but I don’t always know exactly when or how they’ll come to life. Instead, I focus on what’s in front of me and trust the process. My determination has always kept my eyes on the prize, and my work has strengthened my ability to be solution-driven—a mindset that carries into every aspect of my life.

When unexpected detours arise, my attitude is: “Alright, here’s the challenge—give it your best effort, and trust that what’s meant to be will be.” I’m a glass-half-full kind of girl, and I view setbacks as valuable learning opportunities that help me grow and move forward.

How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?

I measure success by the opportunity to positively impact even one person. Every day, I affirm, ‘Good things happen to me and through me,’ and I ask God to help me show up as I am called to.

Success is hearing that my newsletter moved someone or sparked meaningful conversation. It’s when someone tells me my advice made a difference or when I see a client put into practice what we worked on together. One of my most fulfilling moments was hosting a goal-setting event in January, where I guided people in setting intentional, measurable goals. The overwhelmingly positive feedback reminded me that creating spaces for transformation is truly my purpose.

Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?

As previously mentioned, one of my most fulfilling moments was hosting a goal-setting event in January, where I guided people in setting intentional, measurable goals for the year. It was my first event, and it was snowing that day, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I trusted that it would unfold as it was meant to.

The turnout, support, and feedback exceeded my expectations. Seeing people come together, share, and commit to their growth reinforced my purpose. That experience showed me the power of fostering community and unified growth—something I now know I need to continue building on.

What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?

Mentorship is incredibly important. I believe one of the reasons we go through experiences is to pass down wisdom to those coming behind us. Even more impactful is seeing people who look like us or come from similar backgrounds paving the way—it makes success feel more attainable.

The beauty of today’s world is that mentorship isn’t limited to direct relationships. With so many virtual resources, we can learn from a wide range of mentors without even knowing them personally. During my life coaching certification, I found inspiration in the program’s presenters, explored their work, and continue to draw insights from other Life Coaches and Leaders through social media.

But mentorship isn’t just formal—it can happen anywhere. I once had a conversation with a restaurant owner that left me deeply motivated. Inspiration is all around us if we stay open to learning from others.

What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?

Purpos3ful Coaching is a Life Coaching business—but more than that, it’s my passion project. My mission is to empower individuals to recognize and unlock their inner potential, helping them live abundant lives aligned with their unique gifts and purpose.

I truly believe that the tools for transformation already exist within us; we just need the right guidance and support to activate them. My commitment to this work allows me to show up authentically, build genuine connections, and make a lasting impact. While I’m still new to this space, I’m excited to grow. I envision creating more meaningful experiences, refining my coaching practice, and continuing to uplift individuals while fostering a strong, purpose-driven community.
