If your business could have a mascot, what would it be and why?
A pitbull because they are expressive, communicate a wide range of emotions, and love to connect with people. They are also sometimes considered outsiders or not the expected choice for companionship; however, anyone who gets to know them loves and appreciates them.
I think my focus on communication, combined with my unique and often “outsider” approach to training and coaching, aligns with this.
What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?
I have created strict hours that I do not make exceptions for regarding direct client hours. I do need to get better at this for the rest of the work that happens behind the scenes.
When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?
I try to remove expectations from the start. I have a goal in mind, but I try not to create an overly detailed expectation of what it will look like and when it will happen. That way, I can grow, learn, and modify as I go.
How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?
I think success is my enjoyment. I care about and love working with every single one of my clients. I genuinely care about and celebrate all of their accomplishments and look forward to working with them. I think that’s the beauty of having my own business—I have the luxury of choosing who I work with.
Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?
I think a memorable moment was the first time I hired an assistant. Not only was it a sign of my business growing, but it was also a necessary step that allowed me to exhale and focus on the parts of my business I enjoy the most—my clients.
What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?
I think mentorship is necessary and needs to be an ongoing source of support. Mentors have helped to encourage me as well as teach me every step of the way.
What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?
My work is all about communication, and if we all communicated better and a bit more, I’m pretty sure it could fix many of the world’s problems.
