What strategies do you employ to maintain a healthy work-life balance while running your own business?

Self-care is essential for maintaining a work-life balance, which means taking time, regardless of work demands, to take care of your physical and emotional health. It requires scheduling to make it happen, building it in on a regular basis, and believing that you deserve it. Self-care can take whatever form works for you, just figure out what makes you feel good, relaxed and distracted.

When faced with unexpected detours on your business path, how do you pivot with grace and resilience, showing fellow women entrepreneurs the way forward?

Take a step back and remember that life is a series of transitions and changes. You’ve survived them before, you will get through it this time, and you will undoubtedly face challenges in the future. Having a longer view can alleviate some of the immediate stress of this detour. Grace comes with being sympathetic to the perspective of others, and resilience comes from knowing your strengths.

How do you measure the success of your business beyond financial metrics, such as customer satisfaction or community engagement?

I measure success by receiving positive feedback and appreciation from my clients for the work we’ve done together. The positive reactions I’ve received for my podcast guest appearances and written articles are deeply satisfying, in a way that financial metrics don’t compete.

Can you share a memorable moment where you witnessed significant growth or transformation in your business, illustrating the impact of your services/products?

I was asked to do a radio interview by a television/radio company. It was very successful and I discovered that I enjoyed using my one-to-many voice, which was an unexpected experience. Since then I have been a podcast guest on many podcasts, which is a wonderful compliment to my one-on-one coaching business.

What role do you believe mentorship plays in the success of small businesses, and how have mentors influenced your own entrepreneurial journey?

Mentors are valuable for small businesses because they provide objective, real world guidance. It’s easy to get stuck and be overwhelmed. I’ve had the benefit of a business coach and an experienced mentor to push me out of my comfort zone and propel me to make clearer decisions about what is important to me and my business.

What’s your work all about, and how does it make a difference in the world?

As a Life Transition Coach, I help clients face their transition with clarity and positivity. Transitions can take many forms, e.g. career, relationship, new baby, empty nest, moving, etc. We explore their obstacles and expectations, and work collaboratively on an actionable plan to move them forward with renewed enthusiasm. This makes a difference in clients’ lives because they are more fulfilled and satisfied. Those around them benefit from their positive attitudes, which is a good thing for the world.
