Before you became the business titan you are today, enlighten us about the thrilling adventures of your pre-business life.
I was in Corporate America for 24+ years, with 16 of those in sales. First, I did desktop support and data center management, and network administration before everything went to the cloud. (I am dating myself here, ha!) Then I was a cybersecurity presales engineer. That time taught me a lot about building and maintaining relationships and cultivating true connection. It also helped give me really strong guidelines for how I want to run my business, and ensure that I am always providing a high level of value for my clients. In addition, I saw up close the difference in which men and women were treated, and how many people mistakenly thought that I was the salesperson, and my male counterpart was the engineer. The bias and stereotyping were rampant, and it gave me a lot of insight that I now use in my own business.
Could you elaborate on the nature of your initiative/business/current role, highlighting its purpose and the ways it benefits people?
My purpose with my business is to lower the rate of suffering and stress in the world. So many people are working through unacknowledged trauma, either physical or emotional, and other life events, making day-to-day living much more difficult. The mix of Cognomovement (working with the nervous system and subconscious mind) and coaching (conscious mind)—my clients move forward much more quickly toward their goals, typically reaching their goals in half the time of coaching alone. The more people who can let go of their suffering and help themselves heal, the happier they are and the higher their quality of life.
What has been the response of the users/consumers towards your venture? (You can also talk about your recognitions/achievements here)
I get very positive feedback on the type of messaging I am putting out there, and clients have been thrilled with their results. My goal with every client I work with is to provide much more value than what they invested in themselves to work with me. I’ve helped people have a full life again after being in bed for 15 years, and returning to regular activities after a lifetime of pain and fatigue. A client in Norway is so appreciative of the work we have done that she is sending me there for 2 weeks to explore the country with her and her wife! I am so thrilled and flattered to be given such a gift. I’ve also helped a father cope with the grief after losing his 12-year-old daughter, allowing him to smile & laugh again in less than a year, and helping him reconnect to his younger daughter. I’ve helped police officers return to quality sleep again and continue to have a high quality of sleep. I’ve helped a football player who had a skydiving accident to help reconnect neural pathways after the TBI he sustained when he landed. I’ve helped a few people clear out the grief and shock of finding a loved one who chose suicide. Those are just some of the highlights of my work so far—I am honored to be able to facilitate healing for people on such a deep level.
Having a strong support system is essential for your well-being. We would love to know who your biggest supporter is. Share with us and let’s celebrate the amazing people in our lives who make a positive impact.
The mental health liaison at one of the local police agencies has been my biggest supporter to date, but she will remain nameless. She told me I have been the most consistent referral source she has had for both officers and civilians in the 27 years she’s been doing this. It means so much to me to be able to support and help at the level I can.
As a woman entrepreneur, what changes do you hope to see in the world and what opportunities are you seeking?
I want to empower women in general to help them see that they have so much within them already, to reach their goals. Whether health-related or in business, we all have so much more within us than we realize, and sometimes it takes someone on the outside to help us see it and bring it out of us! Sometimes we can be so driven that our health takes a toll, which was part of my own story as well. Once we can see how much value we have simply by being ourselves, the whole game changes for the better! We stop discounting ourselves, and we stop settling for less than we deserve. Then we can take that empowerment for ourselves and really start to thrive and create deeper connections and meaning in our lives. I want women to know that they are not alone in whatever they are struggling with, there is always someone who cares, and something you can do to improve whatever situation you are in.
Women now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with men in the workplace, breaking through glass ceilings to reach the top. What are your thoughts on women’s leadership today?
I would love to see more women in leadership positions. During my time in Corporate, I was never paid the same as my male counterparts and was stuck under the glass ceiling for a long time, despite being one of the best at what I did. I was always afraid to ask for more and for what I deserved. Now, as a business owner, and doing the same work I encourage my clients to do, I am clear on the value I provide, and the high level of skills I have acquired that allow me to help my clients reach the levels they reach. There is no reason a woman cannot be a leader, and I would love to see more women CEOs and in other powerful, leadership positions out there in the world! Whatever I can do to help eliminate any blocks women have to stepping more into their power, I would like to do!
