Tom Jackobs: Pivoting with purpose and teaching entrepreneurs to sell with heart

Tom Jackobs

Tom Jackobs is an entrepreneur who turned uncertainty into opportunity. When COVID shut down his original client base in 2020, he boldly pivoted and built an appointment-setting service for health and wellness practitioners — a niche that not only survived the crisis but thrived. Today, Tom also coaches entrepreneurs through his Selling with Heart program, teaching them how to build authentic connections and close sales without losing their integrity. His story is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the power of leading with purpose — values that deeply align with the spirit of Humans of Fuzia.

Q: Tell us about your current business and how it started.
I started my current business in 2020 as an appointment-setting service, primarily for functional health and wellness practitioners. We work with the leads they already have, reach out to them, and book appointments. It’s a simple model, but highly effective — and it’s been running successfully for five years now.

Q: Who do you usually work with?
Our main clients are health and wellness professionals in the U.S., although we also work with financial advisors and attorneys. But our preference is to support practitioners who are making a real difference in people’s lives.

Q: Since you started just before COVID, how did you handle that challenge?
I launched the business in January 2020, focusing on fitness centers. By March, they were all closed due to the pandemic. I had to pivot quickly, and with the encouragement of a client, I shifted toward medical and functional health providers. That change completely transformed the business — it grew significantly, and I found more joy in the work.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give young entrepreneurs starting out today?
Have a plan, but don’t be married to it. Be open to change and new opportunities. Flexibility is essential in a world where things can shift overnight.

Q: Are there any new initiatives you’re working on?
Yes, I recently launched a group sales coaching program called Selling with Heart. It’s designed for practitioners who may book appointments but struggle to convert them into paying clients. The focus is on building trust, listening deeply, and selling with authenticity. The results so far have been really positive.

Q: What are your short-term goals for the business?
I’d like to grow the group coaching program by adding at least 10 new clients per month. Since it’s a year-long program, the idea is to build a strong community of entrepreneurs who are not only learning but also supporting each other.
