Teon Singletary is a leadership coach, author, and podcast host whose journey is rooted in deep self-awareness, faith, and intentional living. Featured on Humans of Fuzia, Teon’s story resonates with our global community because it reflects transformation—how inner growth can lead to meaningful leadership, service, and impact. His experiences remind us that when individuals evolve, communities thrive, and that growth is strongest when we uplift women and men together.
What inspired you to begin your leadership journey?
Life itself pushed me into leadership. Early on, I believed I knew what leadership was, but I was arrogant and naive. Through life’s trials, I realized my way wasn’t the best way. In 2012, a pivotal experience—spending a year in another country—helped me become more self-aware. I shifted from a negative, poverty mindset to a growth mindset, began living intentionally, and discovered my true purpose. That year changed everything.
How did that inner shift reflect in your professional path?
Once my mindset changed, opportunities followed. I’ve written five books and published four globally, helped local authors publish their work, and contributed to multiple anthologies. I’m now building my own anthology to share stories of faith, leadership, and personal growth. I also run two small businesses, host a leadership podcast that’s been recognized among the top 100, and offer coaching and courses to help others grow.
What challenges did you face as an entrepreneur and content creator?
The biggest challenge is managing yourself—your time, priorities, and boundaries. Being your own boss means you must be intentional. I rely heavily on systems like calendars and planners to stay focused. Reflection is key for me—reviewing what worked, what didn’t, and how I can improve. Consistency and simplicity help me keep the main thing the main thing.
What does living intentionally mean to you?
It means aligning your actions with your purpose. Desires alone aren’t enough—you have to act. I focus on being intentional with my time, words, and actions. Reflection helps me course-correct, and faith keeps me grounded. When you’re consistent, your mindset shifts, and that shift changes everything else.
What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
Women play a vital role in leadership and innovation. The strongest influences in my life were my grandmother and mother—they shaped my values, empathy, and leadership style. Women bring compassion, wisdom, and diverse thinking to organizations. When everyone has a seat at the table and their voice is heard, communities and organizations truly thrive. I deeply respect the resilience and dedication of women leaders.
“Live intentionally, stay consistent, and allow your light to shine—because true leadership begins within.”
