As an entrepreneur, Tanya Newbould has been called into this world to show up with power, passion, and purpose. A former actor, she suffered and survived seven out of nine perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), which led to the co-creation of When the Bough Breaks—a documentary about postpartum depression—executive produced by Brooke Shields. As an ICF Coach and Executive Transformation Coach, she supports people in growing and transforming their lives and the world around them. She has co-authored two best-selling books and is currently finishing her memoir about her PPD journey and the creation of the documentary. Tanya speaks internationally to dismantle the stigma and normalize the conversation around this mental health issue.
Could you elaborate on the nature of your business, highlighting its purpose and the ways it benefits people?
I am an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and a Licensed Academy Trainer (LAT) from the Academy for Coaching Excellence, along with my International Coaches Federation (ICF) accreditation. I coach C-suite executives as the missing link in the mindset for sales and client services. I am also certified in PMADs and Advanced PMADs from Postpartum Support International and am currently in a one-year trauma-informed coaching program. The programs I teach create lasting change that can be immediately implemented. I lead with faith, intuition, and knowledge.
My other love is being the Founder of Del Pozzo Jewelry for over 20 years, and I love what I do! Additionally, I created a candle, diffuser, and roller oil line called SOZO Heart, which incorporates a higher amount of essential oils to create a sense of grounding and well-being.
What inspired you to start your journey as a coach and entrepreneur? Were there any specific events, challenges, or people that motivated you to take this path?
I became inspired to become a coach during COVID-19 in 2020. Everyone was on lockdown, and no one was buying jewelry. People often came to me for advice, so I began coaching and very quickly realized my love for helping others transform their lives.
Looking back at the beginning of your career, what were the major challenges you faced when establishing yourself as a leader/coach? How did you overcome those obstacles?
Being well-educated and receiving my ICF certification was crucial to working globally with large corporations, small companies, and individuals. Obtaining my certifications took several years of intense study, but it was worth it. I primarily work by referral for both coaching and speaking.
Women are a growing force in workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. What are your thoughts about women in leadership today?
I advocate for female leadership. Both male and female counterparts bring different elements to the workforce, and both are needed to create a holistic environment. Women leaders are decisive and strong. Usually, they have experienced and overcome trauma, creating a powerful driving force to change their environment and the world. I applaud women and support this growth worldwide.
What message/advice would you have for future women leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Being an entrepreneur is fantastic. It can also be isolating and challenging, and you will experience failure in some form. But there is nothing better than being the boss of your life and a driving force to change the world in your own personal way. If you have a vision, don’t ever give up. Educate yourself, work smartly for it, and most importantly, show yourself love, self-care, and kindness. Remember, you must put the oxygen mask on yourself before you put it on anyone else.
