Tadzia Lee: Building Stronger Communities with Purpose and Passion

Tadzia Lee

At just 24, Tadzia Lee is already carving out a path of impact and inspiration. Based in Chicago, she began her entrepreneurial journey with a self-care brand and is now transitioning into something far greater—community-focused initiatives that nurture creativity, support small businesses, and empower children and families. Humans of Fuzia is proud to feature her story as part of our global movement to spotlight women who are shaping the world with resilience and vision. With over 5 million members in our community working towards “He for She” and “She for She,” Tadzia’s journey reminds us of the power of ambition, purpose, and giving back.

Q: Tadzia, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your journey began?
A: My name is Tadzia, I live in Chicago, and I’m currently 24 years old. I started out with my business called WellLive, where we focused on self-care through journals, candles, and wellness products. That was really my starting point—understanding what worked, what didn’t, and learning how to grow. Now, I’m in the process of transitioning into something bigger and more impactful that truly serves my community.

Q: What inspired this transition?
A: I realized that while products are wonderful, I wanted to give back in deeper ways. My new mission is to focus on the west side of Chicago, nurturing children through creativity and learning, and also supporting local entrepreneurs. I want to create resources, host events, and provide spaces where people feel seen, supported, and connected. It’s about pouring back into the community, not just selling products.

Q: Are you building this entirely on your own?
A: Yes, I’m currently a solopreneur. I have a supportive mentor and a great network of friends who step in and help when they can, but for the most part, I manage everything myself. In the future, I’d love to expand and hire a team as we grow.

Q: Starting a business is never easy. How have you managed the financial side of things?
A: Right now, it’s completely bootstrapped. Last year, I won a grant through a local Chicago program, which was a huge help. For this next phase, I know I’ll need to fundraise, apply for more grants, and eventually take out a loan. It’s been a personal growth journey as well—redefining my relationship with money, learning to overcome setbacks, and preparing mentally for the financial responsibilities that come with scaling.

Q: What sets your vision apart from others in your field?
A: I think what makes us different is our true commitment to giving back. “Community” can sometimes just feel like a buzzword, but for me, it’s the foundation of everything. Having been part of pop-up markets myself, I know the struggles small business owners face—whether it’s limited access, affordability, or visibility. My vision is to fill those gaps, create real opportunities, and provide meaningful support that goes beyond profit.

Q: What challenges have you faced so far?
A: There have been quite a few. With products, it was figuring out how to make mine stand out in a crowded market. With finances, it was navigating the challenges of bootstrapping and reshaping my mindset around money. And on a personal level, learning when to step aside and let others help has been big. Entrepreneurship pushes you to confront your own barriers, but it also teaches you how to adapt and grow.

Q: What are your aspirations for the near future?
A: By the end of this year, I want to have a strong, solid business plan ready to share with potential investors and partners. I’m also focused on networking, building connections, and applying for at least two grants a month. Ultimately, I want to establish a community space in Chicago that truly reflects this mission.

Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with our global community?
A: I would say—stay ambitious, stay courageous, and keep working toward what feels like your purpose. Don’t chase quick wins if they don’t align with your heart. True fulfillment comes from passion and persistence. And remember, no matter what society says, it is possible to create a life you believe in.

“Stay ambitious, follow your purpose, and don’t let anyone tell you it’s not possible.” – Tadzia Lee
