You’ve had such a remarkable entrepreneurial journey. What inspired you to start your own business?
I didn’t have a college education, family money, or big connections. But from a young age, I knew I wanted to own my own business — though I had no idea what that would look like. I stayed open to opportunities. I started as a secretary straight out of high school, then worked my way into jobs I technically wasn’t “qualified” for on paper. I believed in myself, strategized how to bring value to companies, and that approach opened doors for me. Eventually, I met an emergency room physician with inventions and ambitions, and we became business partners. I had to raise capital—something I’d never done before—and it was tough but incredibly rewarding. You can’t learn those lessons in school.
You support women in business extensively. Who would you say is your ideal audience?
My ideal audience is professional women—whether they work for themselves or for a company. Many are climbing the corporate ladder and facing the challenges of breaking through male-dominated spaces. Others want to leave corporate and start their own businesses. Some already run businesses but want to scale. Over the last 25 years, I’ve worked with women in almost every industry, helping them gain momentum and confidence to accelerate their careers and lives.
What benefits have you seen women gain when they work with you?
The two biggest transformations are increased income and elevated confidence. Interestingly, every woman comes to me for business strategies—but 100% of the time, we also work on mindset. It’s crucial to unlearn limiting beliefs and think strategically. Often, even highly educated women are taught to think within certain boundaries. I help them break those patterns so they can open new doors, find joy, and increase their income. I always say—when good people make more money, they do great things with it.
Imposter Syndrome holds back so many women. Have you experienced that? How did you overcome it?
Absolutely. Despite my achievements, I’ve had those moments—curled up on the floor, full of self-doubt, thinking, “Who do I think I am?” Even successful people, including multi-millionaires I’ve met, experience imposter syndrome. The trick is to face the fear head-on. I often ask women to practice—whether it’s pitching their ideas to strangers or preparing for big meetings. Start with low-stakes situations, build your confidence, and work through the fear. Every time you push past it, your self-belief grows. And if someone tries to tear you down? That’s on them, not you. I’ve had tough experiences, especially dealing with certain men, but standing my ground built my confidence and earned respect.
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently in your journey?
Honestly, no. Even the hardest lessons shaped me into who I am today. Some people ask if I regret not getting a formal education, but I believe the real-world experiences I’ve had—and the challenges I’ve faced—could never be taught in a classroom. My purpose has always been to inspire women to pursue their dreams, think creatively, overcome obstacles, and never give up.
Is there an exciting project you’re currently working on?
Yes! I’m thrilled to be launching a free online event for women called Beauty, Body, and Business. It brings together 15 experts—five in each category—to provide deep, honest insights for women. I believe these areas are interconnected. How we feel about our appearance, our health, and our confidence impacts how we show up in the world. This event will equip women with knowledge and empowerment to thrive personally and professionally.
