Q: Sonya, how did your entrepreneurial journey begin?
Sonya Feher: My path was very organic. I started as a high school English teacher and later earned a master’s degree in poetry. Life shifted dramatically after my divorce when my son was three—I needed work that would support us but also allow me time with him.

It began when someone in my divorce support group needed help organizing their papers. I thought, I’m great at organizing—hire me! That was the accidental start of my home organizing business in 2010. Over time, I realized that while I was clearing people’s physical clutter, what they truly wanted was happiness. That realization led me into coaching and creating tools like gratitude journals and happiness groups for women.

Q: How has your business evolved over the years?
Sonya Feher: My business, SpaceWise Organizing, started with home and time organization. Eventually, I expanded into coaching and happiness work. I run women’s coaching groups, including one focused on midlife transitions—like empty nest, divorce, career shifts, and menopause—helping women envision a future they’re excited about.

I also created Everything in Place, a downloadable workbook for emergency and end-of-life planning. It guides people to organize their documents, medical history, and even the personal legacy they want to leave behind. I’ve learned that our lives—and our happiness—are deeply connected to both the systems we create and the stories we choose to honor.

Q: What has been your approach to finding and growing your client base as a solopreneur?
Sonya Feher: Word-of-mouth has been huge for me. Over 15 years, referrals from happy clients, networking with other entrepreneurs, and sharing knowledge through blogging, social media, and workshops have been key. I also collaborate with other organizing professionals and small business owners, because sharing resources is powerful in the solopreneur world.

Q: Who do you primarily work with, and where are they located?
Sonya Feher: My ideal clients are midlife women—40 and up—navigating transitions and searching for more joy, clarity, and meaning in their lives. Thanks to Zoom, I coach women worldwide. I also look forward to hosting retreats and workshops in different locations as I move into the next chapter of my own life.

Q: What upcoming projects or programs are you excited about?
Sonya Feher: I’m launching a midlife women’s coaching group this fall and a support group for people completing their Everything in Place workbook. Facing life transitions or planning for the unexpected can be emotionally challenging, and these groups create accountability, encouragement, and space for reflection.

Q: How do you personally define success?
Sonya Feher: I keep a quote from Dolly Parton on my desk: “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.” Success, to me, is feeling like we have enough—enough love, enough time, enough joy. It’s about gratitude for what we already have instead of constantly striving for more.

Closing Quote from Sonya:
“Happiness comes from recognizing that we already have enough—enough love, enough time, enough joy. Living in gratitude is the real success.”
