Meet Skye van Heyzen, a transformational life coach whose journey from academia and agriculture to business and leadership has shaped her mission to help people transform burnout into strength. After facing burnout herself multiple times, Skye shifted her career to focus on what truly matters—empowering people to become stronger, more resilient versions of themselves. Through her work at Adaptive Apex, she helps leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals find balance, reclaim their power, and navigate challenges with renewed clarity. Humans of Fuzia is proud to feature Skye’s story to inspire our global community of 5 million members, all united in supporting women through the power of shared experiences, with a strong belief in He for She and She for She.
Q: Can you tell us about your work as a coach and what makes it unique?
Skye: Traditional coaching often takes people from point A to point B, from problem to solution. But I focus on taking someone from A to A—helping them become version 2.0 of themselves. That way, when they face the same challenges again, they no longer remain obstacles.
Q: How did Adaptive Apex come about?
Skye: Adaptive Apex is essentially a rebrand of my earlier venture, The Mitred Approach. That was more consulting-focused, working with agri-tech startups, biotech founders, and entrepreneurs. Over time, I realized I was naturally coaching people, not just businesses. My career has spanned from academia to R&D to building entire business units, but along the way, I also experienced burnout three times. That’s when I knew I wanted to help others avoid what I went through. By helping people, I found, I was ultimately helping businesses thrive.
Q: Who are the people you usually work with?
Skye: I work with what I call “modern professionals.” These are mid-to-senior leaders, founders, and entrepreneurs who are juggling too many demands—managing teams, businesses, and expectations from every direction. They often feel like they’ve lost their power. My role is to help them reclaim it, let go of what was never theirs to carry, and step into their best selves.
Q: Where can people connect with you and your work?
Skye: I’m active on Instagram, where I share most of my professional content, and I also have a YouTube channel. LinkedIn remains important for me, but I now use it more for direct connections and conversations.
Q: What challenges do you face in your business journey?
Skye: Challenges are everywhere—whether it’s digital marketing, reaching the right clients, or showing up authentically. But I don’t view them as obstacles. I’ve learned to either figure it out or outsource it. To me, challenges are just part of the process, not roadblocks.
Q: What’s next for you in the coming months?
Skye: I’ve recently launched my five-session coaching package called the Power Back Pivot. My goal is to enroll and serve as many people as I can this year, especially during this season when professionals are eager to reset and achieve more before year-end.
Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with women professionals and entrepreneurs?
Skye: Live on your terms. The world often pressures us to fit into certain roles or expectations, but the truth is, you just need to be unapologetically yourself. If you don’t live authentically, no one else can do it for you.
“Be unapologetically you—because if you don’t live authentically, no one else can do it for you.” – Skye van Heyzen
