Sara Hickson: Helping women find strength and direction through accountability and connection.

Sara Hickson

Sara Hickson is an entrepreneur and community builder who has dedicated her work to helping women navigate moments of transition—whether that’s starting a business, changing careers, or simply finding balance while working from home. Through her initiatives, including accountability groups, co-working sessions, and practical learning communities, Sara empowers women to stay focused, supported, and inspired. Humans of Fuzia is featuring Sara because her journey reflects the very heart of our mission—supporting women, by women, and for women—reminding our 5 million-strong global community that growth is possible when we lift each other up.

Q: Sara, can you tell us a little about your entrepreneurial journey?
Sara: I currently run two main ventures. The one that’s closest to my heart is a community built for women, especially those in job transition. It’s for women starting something new, looking for a job, or freelancing from home and needing accountability and support. We meet weekly, host co-working sessions, run learning workshops, a book club, mastermind sessions, and even started an AI practice group. It grew out of an organic group of three founders who wanted to keep each other on track, and now it’s blossomed into something bigger.

My other company, Connexsolve, is more of a solopreneurship where I help individuals and organizations connect with the resources they need to succeed. I do accountability coaching and resource connection, making sure people have what they need to move forward.

Q: What inspired you to create a community focused on accountability for women?
Sara: Honestly, it came from my own experience. When you’re in a structured work environment, there are always goals, expectations, and people around you to keep things moving. But when you step into a new chapter—working from home, starting a business—it can feel overwhelming to manage everything on your own. That’s where accountability becomes so important. Having a group that checks in, encourages you, and learns with you makes the journey less lonely and far more productive.

Q: Who is your target audience, and where are most of your members based?
Sara: Right now, most of our members are women in the U.S., but we’re completely virtual and open to women anywhere. Our focus is on women who are starting fresh—whether that’s a career pivot, freelancing, or launching something new—and need a supportive network to help them stay on track and grow.

Q: What are some of the initiatives you’re most excited about right now?
Sara: We recently launched our new website and introduced an AI practice group because one of our members said she had taken so many classes but still didn’t feel comfortable with AI. We decided to create a hands-on group where we could learn together and apply skills in real time. We’re also exploring the idea of a podcast club as an alternative to a book club—something lighter and more accessible for busy women, but still rich in discussion and takeaways.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d share with women starting their journey this year?
Sara: Keep your bigger goal in mind. It’s easy to get caught up in the endless to-dos, free trainings, networking opportunities, and books out there. All of that is wonderful, but only if it’s helping you get closer to your dream. I always think about my own vision of having a little cabin in the woods—it helps me stay focused on what truly matters, instead of filling my days with things that don’t move me forward.

“Women helping women is powerful. When we create spaces of accountability and support, we don’t just achieve our own goals—we lift each other higher along the way.”
