Humans of Fuzia is proud to feature Ron Higgs, founder of Wolf Management Solutions, a leadership coach, speaker, and advisor dedicated to empowering engineers and technical professionals to become impactful leaders. From serving in the military and working in corporate America to building his own business, Ron’s journey reflects courage, resilience, and a deep commitment to growth. His work focuses on leadership development, executive coaching, and helping individuals unlock their potential while navigating the realities of entrepreneurship.
Can you share your backstory and what inspired you to start Wolf Management Solutions?
My journey started with a desire to create meaningful change while I was still working in corporate America. I began my career in the military and later worked in the aerospace and defense industry. Over time, I felt a strong urge to do something different and take a new path.
As I explored the startup ecosystem, I realized that I had transferable skills that could help others. That realization gave me the confidence to leave my corporate job and start Wolf Management Solutions. My goal was to use my leadership experience to help others grow and succeed.
What does being a founder mean to you — both the rewards and the challenges?
The most exciting part of being a founder is stepping into the unknown. I joined the military right out of high school and later worked in structured environments, so starting a business was completely new territory. The autonomy — setting my schedule and choosing who I work with — has been incredibly rewarding.
However, entrepreneurship can also be lonely. As a solopreneur, everything depends on me, and maintaining consistent income can be challenging. While I collaborate with partners and maintain accountability networks, I do miss the experience of working within a team.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs starting their journey?
Entrepreneurship requires sacrifice and resilience. Many people see only success stories but not the struggles, failures, or difficult moments behind them.
My advice is to maintain your relationships and expect the unexpected. Learn from others who have walked the path before you. Challenges are inevitable, but strong relationships and shared experiences can make the journey easier.
How important are communities and networks for entrepreneurs?
Building relationships is essential, but not necessarily with people who think exactly like you. It’s more important to connect with individuals who share the same drive and values, even if their perspectives differ.
Diverse viewpoints help you grow, while shared motivation keeps you aligned toward common goals.
Tell us more about your coaching model and how you support your clients.
My work focuses primarily on leadership development for engineers and technical professionals. With my background in engineering and leadership roles, I help individuals transition into executive positions and strengthen their leadership skills.
I offer:
- One-on-one coaching for professionals moving into leadership and executive roles.
- Executive team coaching to improve communication, alignment, and organizational effectiveness.
- Keynote speaking, where I share leadership lessons inspired by my experience in naval aviation.
- Startup advisory services to help businesses grow strategically.
My mission is to help technical professionals master both logic and the human side of leadership.
What is your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur today?
One of the main challenges is maintaining a steady stream of clients and increasing visibility. Sometimes I feel like a “well-kept secret.”
I’m continually working to expand my network and build relationships with decision-makers such as HR leaders, CEOs, and executives who can connect me with individuals who need leadership coaching.
What are your thoughts on women’s empowerment and leadership?
As someone who has experienced being underrepresented, I understand many of the challenges faced by women in leadership. I believe underrepresented professionals need advocates, allies, and mentors — especially those who may not share the same background but are willing to support and champion their success.
Throughout my career, I’ve built strong partnerships with women entrepreneurs, and I believe in supporting each other to create more inclusive opportunities.
What are your goals for the future?
I don’t tie my goals to specific timelines like New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I focus on daily intentions:
- Meet someone new.
- Learn something new.
- Help someone every day.
By staying committed to these principles, I believe long-term success naturally follows.
“Meet someone new, learn something new, and help someone every day — that’s how meaningful growth happens.”
