Patience Ogunbona: Leading with Quiet Confidence in a Loud World

Patience Ogunbona

Patience Ogunbona’s journey is one of purpose awakened through loss, resilience, and deep self-alignment. From navigating grief and health challenges to redefining leadership for introverted women, her story speaks to anyone who has felt called to live more intentionally. Humans of Fuzia is featuring Patience because her work empowers women to embrace their authentic leadership style—quiet, confident, and impactful—resonating deeply with our 5M+ global community committed to uplifting women through both She for She and He for She.

Q: Patience, what inspired you to begin your entrepreneurial journey?
A: The desire was always there, even when I didn’t fully recognize it. When I first moved to the UK, I wanted my own company, but fear held me back—fear of risk, fear of not having the right support system, fear of failing as the first child in my family. I chose employment, and I don’t regret it, because every experience shapes who we become.

Everything changed after my mother passed away. She lived a life full of purpose—transitioning from nursing to HR and then entrepreneurship across industries. Her death made me question my own life: Was I living my purpose? I realized I wasn’t.

Then came more loss, illness, and eventually losing sight in one eye. That moment forced me to confront life honestly. I promised myself that if I regained my sight, I would stop waiting. In 2018, I took the leap into entrepreneurship, starting my coaching, training, and speaking business—and I’ve never looked back.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while building your business?
A: The first challenge was belief—believing in myself and my capacity. The second was thinking I could do everything alone. I underestimated how important mentorship and solid foundations were.

Another challenge was noise. I tried to follow what everyone else was doing instead of finding my own lane. I hadn’t niched down. Once I did—focusing on introverted female executives and senior leaders—everything changed. My messaging became clearer, my tribe found me, and my work became more aligned.

I also learned the importance of systems and support. Burnout happens when you spend energy outside your genius zone. Today, I let others handle what drains me, so I can focus on coaching and speaking—where I’m at my best.

Q: What milestone are you most proud of so far?
A: I’m currently in the middle of a meaningful milestone. I rebranded my company to The Quiet Confidence Company because the old container no longer fit who I had become.

Beyond that, becoming a best-selling leadership author was something I never imagined for myself. Building my own programs and working deeply with aligned clients has been incredibly fulfilling. This time, I’m not starting from scratch—I’m starting from experience.

Q: How has your relationship with clients evolved over the years?
A: It’s not just about quantity anymore—it’s about quality. I now attract clients who are aligned with my values and my work. I understand my worth better, and my pricing reflects the value I bring.

With maturity comes clarity—clarity about outcomes, boundaries, and collaboration. That clarity changes everything.

Q: What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
A: Women have made progress, but there is still so much work to do. Bias exists, ceilings remain, and many workplaces—especially male-dominated ones—don’t always make space for feminine leadership energy.

What women bring is powerful: nurturing, intuition, thoughtful decision-making, and long-term vision. Leadership doesn’t need to be loud or performative to be influential. Quiet confidence carries a magnetic presence that inspires trust and collaboration.

I deeply believe that when women succeed, economies grow. That’s why I support global efforts around women’s education and empowerment, and why my dream is to build a Women’s Empowerment Center in Nigeria—so women can rise, and communities can thrive.

Q: What does success mean to you—personally and professionally?
A: Success is living in alignment—with your values, purpose, and passion. It’s doing work you love while protecting your health, setting boundaries, and having enough to give back—through time, energy, and resources. That balance is what I call holistic success.

Closing

“When you lead in alignment with who you truly are, confidence becomes effortless—and your impact becomes inevitable.”
