Eric C. Maass retired as Senior Director after 11 years at Medtronic and 30 years with Motorola, serving in roles from Product Development through Manufacturing. He was a co-founder of Six Sigma and served as Lead Master Black Belt at both Motorola and Medtronic. His books, Applying DFSS to Software and Hardware Systems and Flawless Launches – Profitable Products, offer strategies for successful product launches. As founder of Six Sigma Experts LLC, he has trained and consulted with 17 corporations. Eric also co-founded OptMM, a startup focused on optimizing manufacturing systems.
Could you describe your initiative/startup’s purpose and vision and how it benefits its target audience?
Six Sigma Experts LLC – teaching engineers predictive engineering – combining modeling with probability and statistics to ensure products and processes meet customer expectations regardless of things we do not control. Success rates for these new products have been incredible (including the original Amazon Kindle and the Medtronic Micra pacemaker).
OptMM – providing a way for manufacturing and supply chain organizations to co-optimize Yield, Cycle Time / Lead Time, Throughput, Cost, and On-Time Delivery.
As far as entrepreneurship is concerned, your journey is quite inspiring. What are some of your most significant accomplishments and how did you achieve them?
Wrote books – combining actual case studies with humor and clarity.
Helped launch successful products, taking engineering modeling from deterministic to probabilistic to anticipate and prevent issues with product launches.

IBM documented savings over $100M from the predictive engineering methods I taught them (LinkedIn Post).
In what ways has your life changed since you began your entrepreneurial journey?
