Tell us about yourself and your professional journey.
I identify myself as a software engineer. I’ve been working in Silicon Valley for nearly 15 years and have worked with major technology companies like Microsoft, Google, and Apple. Over time, I started feeling the need to do something more meaningful—something that could create a positive impact and give back to society.
This led me to explore how people, especially families and conservative communities, consume media today. I wanted to build something that could reduce harmful exposure and provide a healthier viewing experience. That idea eventually led me to create my platform.
What inspired you to start your platform?
The idea came from observing how modern media, particularly Hollywood content, often includes excessive violence, explicit scenes, or oversexualized content. This can be challenging for families, especially those with young children.
As a parent myself, I realized that while parents can control what children watch when they are young, it becomes increasingly difficult as they grow older. I wanted to create a solution that allows families to enjoy entertainment while automatically filtering or skipping inappropriate content. The goal was not to restrict access completely but to provide a safer and more conscious viewing experience.
Can you tell us about your platform and how it works?
The platform offers two main features. First, it provides safety filters that help users choose content based on different levels of appropriateness, such as kid-safe or suggestive content. These filters help families select content aligned with their preferences.
Second, it offers a feature that automatically skips inappropriate scenes in movies or shows. This allows viewers to enjoy content while avoiding elements they may find harmful or uncomfortable. The idea is to create a balance between entertainment and mindful consumption.
How has the response been since launching your platform?
We launched only a few months ago, and the response has been very positive. I’ve presented the idea at conferences, and people appreciate the concept. Many users see it as an automated way of fast-forwarding inappropriate content.
The main feedback we receive is requests for expansion—people want the app available on more platforms, including iPhone, TV, and additional streaming services. We are currently working toward scaling the product and improving accessibility.
What challenges have you faced while building and marketing your startup?
One of the biggest challenges is reaching the right audience. Since the platform serves a niche group, targeting users through traditional advertising can be difficult. You cannot easily target people based on personal values or beliefs, so growth largely depends on organic outreach and word-of-mouth.
Building a strong product and allowing the community to share it naturally has been our primary strategy for growth.
Do you work alone or with a team?
I work closely with my brothers on the development of the app. As a startup, we manage multiple responsibilities and collaborate across different roles. We also hire specialists on a contract basis for design, user experience, and marketing while gradually expanding our operations.
What motivates you personally in this journey?
As a father of three daughters, creating a safe and balanced environment for children is very important to me. I want families to have access to technology that supports their values while still allowing them to engage with modern media.
This personal motivation continues to drive my work and my vision for the platform.
Tell us about Mohammad beyond work. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors, especially in Silicon Valley where the natural landscape is very beautiful and green. Being originally from Egypt, where most areas are desert, I appreciate the greenery and peaceful surroundings.
I also enjoy watching movies and spending quality time with my family. We love visiting national parks together and exploring nature as a family.
“Technology should empower families and support positive values—creating safer experiences that help future generations grow with awareness and balance.”
