Meet Mishaun Jackson, a passionate Women’s Empowerment Coach, author, and advocate for psychological safety in the workplace. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Mishaun saw firsthand the biases and challenges women face, even at the highest levels. Her unwavering dedication to uplifting women, especially those in healthcare and leadership roles, has inspired many to reclaim their voices and embrace their worth. At Humans of Fuzia, we are proud to share her story with our 5-million-strong community dedicated to building an inclusive world where women support each other and thrive — because we believe in both He for She and She for She.
What inspired you to start your platform, Women of Wisdom Wild Solutions?
Honestly, it even caught me by surprise when I branched out. I’ve been in healthcare for over 30 years, working as a chief nurse executive and in leadership roles. Healthcare is supposed to be about compassion, saving lives, and making a difference, but the higher I climbed, the less I saw of that—especially for women.
I noticed that women physicians, leaders, and executives faced extra challenges. We were in the roles but never fully trusted to make decisions independently. Our male counterparts didn’t face that. I read anonymous staff surveys and the comments were always about a woman’s appearance—her makeup, her heels, how provocative she looked—not her performance.
I experienced that bias myself, and I wanted to do something about it. I started coaching women who aspired to lead, helping them navigate the system, build confidence, and find their voice. Eventually, I realized I couldn’t ignore this calling, and that’s how my platform came to life.
Who do you work with the most, and what kind of impact have you seen?
My core audience is women—particularly those in healthcare, nursing, and leadership roles. These women face enormous obstacles despite their achievements.
What surprises me most is how grateful people are for the practical tools I offer. I don’t just inspire; I give real, evidence-based resources. I’ve created guides and frameworks that women can apply both personally and professionally to change their situations.
Over time, I also began working with women facing abuse—whether at home or in the workplace. 80% of professional women experience abuse in some form. That number is staggering. So, I expanded my work to address not just psychological safety but physical safety too.
We’ve developed discreet self-defense products—items like combs that conceal small protective tools or pepper sprays disguised as perfume. I also partnered with Voices Against Violence Against Women and Children to extend this support nationally.
Imposter Syndrome is a topic many of us can relate to. Have you personally faced it?
Absolutely—and I still do at times. Imposter Syndrome is how my platform really took off. I started speaking about it and was surprised by how many men showed up at those talks too.
It often starts in childhood—through family, teachers, or early experiences where you’re told you’re not good enough. It follows you into adulthood and careers. I’ve interviewed CEOs, physicians, celebrities—even Jessica Alba and Venus Williams—and they’ve all experienced it.
For me, it meant working twice as hard. As a woman of color in executive roles, I felt constant pressure to prove myself. I used to work 80-hour weeks just to feel like I deserved my seat at the table. But I’ve learned that your worth isn’t determined by others’ opinions. Even when you’re scared, you have to do it anyway—walk into the room, speak your truth, push past the doubt.
Looking back, is there anything you wish you had done differently when starting your entrepreneurial journey?
Yes, embracing technology sooner. I come from a traditional background—speaking at conferences and in-person events was my comfort zone. But I delayed tapping into social media and digital platforms. I wish I hadn’t let that hold me back.
Now, I encourage my clients to accept evolving tools and marketing trends as part of their growth strategy. It’s not just about having a plan but being willing to adapt to new ways of reaching people.
What exciting projects are you currently working on?
I’m thrilled to be expanding my book series, Soul Survivor. The first book, Soul Survivor: Breaking Free from Psychological Abuse, focused on helping women escape toxic relationships and workplace abuse. I never expected it to turn into a series!
This summer, I’m releasing the next book, Soul Survivor: The Making of an Empower Her Woman, and there’s a third already in the works. These books are filled with real-life strategies, motivational tools, and safety insights to help women overcome abuse, imposter syndrome, and reclaim their power.
