Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Coaching, Women Empowerment, Growth Systems and Social Impact: Laurence Davies on Sustainable Leadership | Humans of Fuzia

Laurence Davies

Why Successful Leadership Starts by Stepping Out of Reactive Mode

What if the biggest obstacle to business growth isn’t a lack of ambition, but the inability to step back and think clearly?

For coaches, founders, and entrepreneurs navigating 2026’s fast-moving business environment, constant demands can make strategic thinking feel impossible. Humans of Fuzia (HOF), a global thought-leadership platform exploring leadership, entrepreneurship, coaching, women empowerment, and socially conscious business, brings these challenges into focus through conversations with people creating meaningful change.

In its Honest Entrepreneurs series, HOF features Laurence Davies, founder of Power of Perspective, whose work combines coaching psychology with extensive business experience to help leaders gain strategic clarity and rethink how they approach challenges.

From Personal Challenges to Purpose-Driven Leadership

Davies’s interest in psychology began with his own mental health struggles during his teenage years. That experience sparked a lasting fascination with psychology, counselling, well-being, and coaching.

Over time, he built a career that combined coaching with other professional roles before moving towards independent practice.

His perspective on leadership is grounded in a simple but powerful idea: changing how we see a situation can change how we respond to it.

Explaining his philosophy, Davies says, “You can change the world by changing how you see it.”

Through Power of Perspective, he encourages leaders to step back from immediate pressures, examine their circumstances, and recognise that there may be multiple paths towards the same goal.

Business Growth in 2026: Visibility, Clarity and Resilience

One of the biggest challenges Davies sees among entrepreneurs is operating in reactive mode.

As he explains, people become “a slave to your inbox,” constantly responding to emails, urgent requests, and unexpected problems instead of working towards clearly defined goals.

For small business leaders and independent coaches, this can undermine client acquisition, messaging clarity, and sustainable growth.

Davies also highlights a common entrepreneurial mistake: underestimating marketing and sales while focusing on the business idea itself.

“the importance of being visible is absolutely enormous,” he explains.

His advice is practical: define visibility as a business goal, develop a strategy, learn from people who have succeeded, and consistently test approaches such as social media content, networking, professional communities, and outsourcing.

Resilience matters, too. Entrepreneurs must learn to handle rejection without interpreting every unanswered message or unsuccessful opportunity as a reason to stop.

Growth Systems That Protect Performance and Well-Being

Scaling a business requires more than acquiring clients. It also demands better decisions about time, delegation, and operational support.

Davies identifies bandwidth management as a continuing challenge for independent professionals. With limited hours and competing priorities, entrepreneurs need to decide where their attention creates the greatest value.

Delegating administrative and marketing tasks, clarifying an ideal client profile (ICP), improving sales funnels, and building repeatable systems can help founders protect time for strategic work.

His wider mission also extends to workplace mental health. Davies previously helped grow a mental health training initiative from a one-person operation into a team of more than 60 people, delivering training to 60,000 people across the UK.

Today, he is developing digital burnout assessments designed to help individuals understand their current burnout levels and future risk.

His work highlights an essential principle of socially conscious leadership: business growth should not come at the expense of human well-being.

Execution Tip

Block 30 minutes tomorrow for strategic thinking. Identify your three most important business goals, list the tasks consuming your time, and choose one activity to delegate, automate, or stop. Then commit to one consistent visibility action that supports your client acquisition goals.
