Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Coaching, Women Empowerment and Growth Systems: Stacy’s Blueprint for Career Ownership and Social Impact

Stacy Heisey-Terrell

What if the career you built is no longer serving the life you want? For Stacy, that question became a turning point—and ultimately the foundation of a coaching practice helping professionals take ownership of their careers, leadership and future.

A career in HR spanning 25 years taught Stacy what she loved most: coaching people, helping them find the right roles and discovering their leadership voice. But repeated promotion setbacks and a growing cultural mismatch with corporate life forced a deeper question: Was she pursuing the right definition of success?

Meeting a coach helped her see another path: entrepreneurship.

Today, as a Career Ownership Coach, Stacy helps experienced professionals navigate layoffs, career transitions, changing life priorities and leadership challenges. Her philosophy is simple but powerful: “How do you take ownership of your career and align your day job to your goals to help you get to your goals and live your values?”

Leadership Coaching That Reframes Success

Stacy’s approach is especially relevant in 2026, when organizational restructuring, downsizing and changing career expectations are forcing leaders to redefine what leadership means.

Her clients often ask whether they are still leaders when their teams shrink or their roles change. Stacy helps them reframe the question: How can your current environment serve your goals—and if it cannot, what needs to change?

That mindset turns career uncertainty into strategic decision-making.

From Entrepreneurship Challenges to Scalable Growth Systems

Like many small business leaders and coaches, Stacy has discovered that being excellent at the service itself does not automatically create predictable business growth.

Her biggest challenge? Business development.

“I am not a salesperson at all,” she says, explaining that client acquisition must feel authentic rather than “salesy.”

Her response has been to build systems around her strengths. She delegates social media and content creation, works with business-development support and uses LinkedIn, referrals, workshops and speaking opportunities to diversify her pipeline.

She is also exploring group facilitation, networking communities and scalable learning experiences—important growth systems for coaches seeking to expand beyond one-to-one delivery.

The Leadership Lesson: Get Uncomfortable

Perhaps Stacy’s most powerful insight is also her most personal.

“I’m constantly pushing my clients to find new opportunities, push themselves out of their comfort zones, but I like to stay in my comfort zone.”

Her solution has been deliberate experimentation: podcasts, workshops, speaking engagements and partnerships.

For entrepreneurs, this is more than personal development. Speaking can strengthen authority, expand networks and create new client-acquisition channels. Clear ICP definition, authentic messaging and consistent systems can then turn visibility into sustainable business growth.

Execution Tip

Choose one uncomfortable growth action this week. Pitch a podcast, contact a potential partner, host a workshop or publish an insight on LinkedIn. Put it on the calendar—and create accountability around completing it.

Humans of Fuzia (HOF), a global thought-leadership platform at the intersection of leadership, entrepreneurship, coaching, women empowerment and socially conscious business, highlights stories like Stacy’s because sustainable growth begins with honest conversations about what happens behind the business.

The lesson is clear: career ownership, leadership development and scalable growth are not separate journeys. They reinforce one another when entrepreneurs build businesses around clarity, authenticity and action.
