Laura Kim: Healing Through Music, Art, and Coaching

Laura Kim

Laura Kim’s story is one of resilience, healing, and transformation. Drawing from her own lived experiences of overcoming generational trauma, childhood abandonment, and mental health struggles, she has built a coaching practice rooted in authenticity, creativity, and compassion. Her journey from self-healing through music and art to guiding others with the same tools is both inspiring and deeply human. Humans of Fuzia is proud to feature Laura’s story — a reminder that healing ourselves can pave the way for helping others.

Q: Laura, how did your journey into coaching begin?
A: My path to coaching came from my own lived experiences. I grew up with generational trauma and mental illness in my family, and as an adult, I had to learn life “backwards.” I started with healing my own wounds — inner child work, self-limiting beliefs, and abandonment issues — and found music and art to be powerful tools in my recovery. Over time, people began seeking me out for support, and even friends told me I was helping them more than their therapists. That’s when I realized I could bring something different into the coaching world, combining psychotherapy-inspired practices with creativity, journaling, and inner child healing.

Q: What does your coaching structure look like?
A: I work one-on-one, both virtually and in person if local. I offer biweekly sessions each month and provide personalized workbooks to support my clients between sessions. One thing my clients really value is my open-door texting support — they can reach out anytime, and I can guide or encourage them in the moment. Healing isn’t confined to a scheduled session; sometimes it’s about having support exactly when you need it.

Q: How do you reach people and spread awareness about your work?
A: Social media has been my biggest platform. I love content creation — reels, carousels, and storytelling posts — because they allow me to express my authentic self while giving value. I also have a website, but most people find me through Instagram. My posts are almost like mini blog entries, where I share advice and reflections. Since I enjoy singing and songwriting, I also weave that into my online presence.

Q: What are your aspirations for the near future?
A: Right now, I want to expand my reach both virtually and locally. I’d love to start hosting in-person events in my community while continuing to grow online. Collaborations, podcasts, and live sessions are also part of my vision. I’ve been in coaching for about a year, and while it took time to overcome imposter syndrome, I now feel grounded in my message and confident in my ability to help people heal.

Q: What challenges do you face as a solopreneur?
A: Like many solopreneurs, I face challenges around finding clients who can afford coaching without feeling stressed. I do offer payment plans, but it’s still tricky to balance. Also, wearing all the hats — marketing, content, administration — can be overwhelming at times. But it’s also the most fulfilling challenge I’ve ever had. Every step teaches me something new.

Q: What is your message to readers who are on their own healing or leadership journey?
A: The most important thing in life is to focus on yourself and your happiness. That’s the best gift you can give yourself — and others. Once you take control of your life and decide what truly matters to you, everything else will start falling into place. Don’t live your life for others. Live it for you.

As Laura reminds us, “Fill your own cup first — you cannot pour from an empty one.” Her journey proves that embracing your own healing can be the very path that inspires and empowers others to begin theirs.
