Kirsty, tell us about your journey and what led you to start your own business.
I went self-employed three years ago. While I’ve worked with associate companies, the majority of my work is direct through my own business. My focus is around supporting neurodivergent individuals, driven by my personal experience with dyslexia and ADHD. But I also work with neurotypical individuals. I deliver training for companies to help them better understand neurodiversity, support their employees, and make small adjustments that can significantly improve productivity and wellbeing. I also do keynote speaking on confidence and mindset—helping people shift from limiting beliefs to building the confidence to achieve their dreams.
What inspired the transition from HR and operations to coaching?
Honestly, I got fed up with reactive HR—it can be draining, constantly firefighting. I wanted to move towards being proactive, making a real impact. I wasn’t open about my neurodivergence in the workplace for a long time, and that shaped my decision. I wanted to help others be more open, access the support they need, and educate companies on how small changes can help individuals flourish—and in turn, benefit the business.
Are you running your business solo or do you have a team?
I describe myself as a sole entrepreneur, but I do have a team—even though I don’t directly employ them. I work with subcontractors like my VA, social media support, marketing team, and accountant. I also partner with companies like This Is Me, Genius Within, and Eurobox. Even though they’re contractors, I see them all as part of the Kirsty Heap Coaching team.
What message would you share with someone just starting their journey?
I believe we’re all capable of flying higher than we think. Sometimes our wings get clipped by education systems, life experiences, or self-doubt. But those wings can grow back. It’s about believing in yourself, listening to your intuition, and going after the goals and dreams you truly want—whether personal or business.
Are there any exciting upcoming launches or projects you’d like to share?
I’m currently launching my Clarity and Free-Flowing Coaching Plans, designed to help sole traders and small businesses gain focus and clarity for the year ahead. I also have a set of meditations in the works. I’ve found meditation helps calm the mind and sharpen focus, so I’ll be launching those soon to support people’s journeys.
What’s a short-term goal you’re working towards?
I want to grow my impact and work more closely with companies to support their employees, especially around neurodiversity. Strengthening those partnerships and making meaningful changes within organizations is really important to me. Alongside that, I’ll continue working with sole traders to help them achieve their goals.
“Believe in yourself, trust your intuition, and remember—you’re capable of flying higher than you ever thought possible.”
