Kapil Gupta: Guiding leaders from performance-driven success to authentic presence and emotional intelligence

Kapil Gupta

Humans of Fuzia is proud to feature Kapil Gupta, founder of Nibana Life, an emotional intelligence coach and leadership mentor helping entrepreneurs and business leaders reconnect with their authentic selves. From a successful corporate career in IT to building a purpose-driven coaching practice, Kapil’s journey reflects self-discovery, resilience, and a deep commitment to inner transformation. Through his work, he empowers individuals to move beyond external success and design a more fulfilling and emotionally aligned life.

Can you share your background and what shaped your journey?

I grew up in India and later moved to the UK nearly 25 years ago after completing my studies in computer systems. My early life was shaped by the traditional idea of striving for success, status, and financial stability. I built my career in IT, worked for a Scottish company, and completed my MBA at the University of Edinburgh.

A major turning point in my life came after my marriage ended. That experience led me to question my direction and explore self-development deeply. I realized I had been living primarily through logic and performance, disconnected from my emotions and inner self.

I stepped away from corporate life for a few years to focus on personal exploration, emotional awareness, and understanding relationships. This journey eventually led me to create an organization focused on emotional intelligence and embodied living. For over a decade, I’ve worked with business leaders and entrepreneurs who have achieved external success but seek deeper fulfillment and meaning.

Tell us about Nibana Life and the work you do.

I founded Nibana Life just before the pandemic to work closely with individuals through coaching and workshops. Over the years, I’ve worked with thousands of people and developed what I call the Performance-to-Presence Framework, which helps individuals align their external success with their inner identity.

The framework includes four key elements:

  • Identity Work — Understanding who we are, our conditioning, beliefs, and the different roles or “masks” we wear in life.
  • Inner Skills — Developing emotional regulation, energy management, communication awareness, and attention cultivation.
  • Practices and Discipline — Building sustainable habits that create lasting personal transformation.
  • Philosophy of Play — Viewing life as an infinite journey focused on growth rather than constant achievement.

The goal is not to reject performance or ambition, but to pursue success from a place of alignment and authenticity rather than external validation.

What are your thoughts on imposter syndrome and self-doubt?

Self-doubt is a natural part of life. When we pursue something meaningful, uncertainty often arises — especially when outcomes exceed expectations or when results are not immediate.

I encourage people to move from a fear-based mindset to a desire-based mindset. Fear often represents “false evidence appearing real.” It can guide us but should not block our growth.

When you combine faith with action, you create transformation. Instead of focusing on outcomes, enjoy the journey, stay aligned with your purpose, and continue moving forward.

What was your biggest challenge when starting your entrepreneurial journey?

One of the biggest challenges was leaving the certainty of a fixed monthly income. Moving from a corporate job to entrepreneurship introduces uncertainty — something most people are not trained to handle.

Even with years of experience and strong qualifications, I faced moments of anxiety about where the next paycheck would come from. The real challenge was learning to trust myself, embrace uncertainty, and build inner stability.

Today, I help others learn how to navigate uncertainty and develop the internal confidence needed to thrive in changing environments.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who struggle with confidence?

First, accept that it’s okay to feel uncertain. Lack of confidence is a normal part of growth — there is no race to win.

Second, focus on taking the next right action rather than worrying about long-term outcomes. Small steps create momentum, and small wins build confidence. Progress happens when you combine faith with consistent action.

What are your thoughts on women’s empowerment?

I strongly support women’s empowerment and personal growth. From my experience, many women actively pursue self-development and emotional growth.

However, I also observe that some women feel pressured to adapt to traditionally masculine structures in professional environments. True empowerment should allow individuals to remain connected to their authentic identity and essence rather than losing themselves to fit external expectations.

Both men and women benefit from integrating emotional awareness, vulnerability, and authenticity into their personal and professional lives.

“Accept where you are, have faith in your path, and keep taking the next step — true transformation happens through awareness and action.”
