Q: John, what inspired you to start something on your own at the very beginning of your career?
John: I was a frustrated writer who wanted to sell more of my work and get it in front of people. So I started a company to do exactly that. I became a self-publisher because I enjoy having full control over my vision. I like knowing that what I create is exactly what I want to share with the world.
Q: Who do you see as your primary audience today?
John: I believe almost everyone has a book inside them. But if I had to be specific, my audience is people who feel the desire to write a book but haven’t taken that step yet. Many people underestimate how many stories are waiting to be told.
Q: As a book marketing coach, what kind of impact do you hope to create for your clients?
John: I want authors to understand that marketing is really about relationships. Writing alone isn’t enough—you have to connect, make friends, collaborate, and support others. When authors help each other, everyone grows. Relationships are the foundation of everything.
Q: Did you ever struggle with self-doubt or imposter syndrome while building your journey?
John: Not really. I believed in what I was doing and trusted that I would find the right audience. Even today, when I explore new fields, I enjoy creating first and building the audience afterward. That process keeps things exciting and meaningful for me.
Q: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently as an entrepreneur?
John: I would have focused even more on building relationships earlier. Collaborating with people in similar spaces made a huge difference for me. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Asking opens doors you didn’t even know existed.
Q: What challenges do you commonly see among aspiring authors and entrepreneurs?
John: Time and money are the biggest ones. Starting anything new requires self-investment. When I was beginning, my mother believed in me and supported me financially. That belief made all the difference. If someone believes in you, don’t hesitate to ask.
Q: How do you personally define success?
John: I’ve been successful for many years, but one personal goal I still hold is seeing one of my books on the New York Times bestseller list. I’ve helped others reach that milestone, and it would be meaningful to experience it myself someday.
Q: Are you currently working on anything exciting?
John: Always. I write extensively, I’m developing new courses, and recently I’ve started writing songs. I write the lyrics and use AI to help create the music. It’s brought me incredible joy and allowed me to express myself in a completely new way.
Q: What kind of legacy would you like your work to leave behind?
John: I don’t worry too much about legacy. If I love what I’m creating, that’s already a win. Some work lasts forever, some doesn’t—but joy and passion always matter. If someone discovers my work years from now and feels inspired, that’s enough.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs and creators?
John: Ask for help. Ask friends, family, even strangers. People want to help, but you have to ask. That first question can lead to powerful friendships and collaborations. Don’t try to do everything alone.
“As long as you love what you’re creating, you’re already successful—and that passion will always find its way to the right people.” — John Kremer
