What inspired you to become an executive and leadership coach?
I’ve always been drawn to leadership—it’s been the core of my 30-year career with top IT companies. I hold a degree in Organizational Leadership, an Executive MBA, and I’ve always been passionate about helping teams thrive. But what truly pushed me towards coaching was my personal reinvention journey. I’m a woman in recovery, and rebuilding my life made me reflect on how I want to impact the world. I realized I was no longer fulfilled in my corporate role. I wanted to help others embrace leadership, not just as a title, but as a means to embody values that empower both themselves and their teams.
What led you to take the leap from corporate life to becoming a solopreneur?
It was both exciting and terrifying. For years, I worked long hours in corporate, but over time, I felt burnt out—like I was betraying myself by staying in a role that no longer fulfilled me. During that period, I explored coaching certifications, which gave me clarity on my next chapter. I realized I wanted to focus on leadership, transformation, and reinvention. But I was practical too—I didn’t just take a blind leap. I secured a client I deeply care about, a nonprofit, which gave me stability while building my own brand. It’s been less than six months, but the freedom to express my full self has been worth it.
Tell us more about your brand ‘Jenny Teeters’ and the people you work with.
I chose to use my own name for my brand because it reflects my journey of embracing full self-expression. My website reflects all aspects of me—from my love of beauty, passed down from my mom, to my book, resources on recovery, and my coaching programs. At the heart of it, I focus on transformational coaching, speaking engagements, and helping others lead authentically. I work with leaders ready to reinvent themselves and create meaningful impact.
Can you share more about your book, Every Day is a New Day?
Absolutely. It’s my proudest achievement so far—a bestselling book on Amazon. Every Day is a New Day: A Story of Faith chronicles my recovery journey from addiction and alcoholism. It’s raw, real, and infused with hope. Even though it’s rooted in my personal story, anyone facing a significant life challenge can see themselves in it. The book has resonated deeply, even within my former corporate world, where colleagues gifted it to others. My daughter even recommended it to her college professor—that’s been incredibly special.
What challenges did you face when transitioning to entrepreneurship?
Honestly, detaching from my corporate identity was harder than I expected. I underestimated how long it would take to rewire my mindset and embrace that I am now an entrepreneur. There were days of uncertainty—figuring out sales, marketing, and lead generation felt overwhelming. I had to remind myself: it’s okay to ask for help. I found community among other entrepreneurs and learned to lean on them. That transition process is now something I help my clients navigate—letting go of the old, embracing the new, and carrying forward what serves them.
What are your goals for 2025?
I’m excited about 2025! I’ve launched my leadership development program called Ascend, which supports leaders in transformation and growth. The next step is to develop it into a self-paced course with opportunities for coaching. I also feel another book stirring—a more practical guide for professionals ready to make a bold change. Between Ascend, the new book, and speaking opportunities, 2025 will be all about amplifying impact and helping others lead with authenticity.
What message would you like to share with all the women entrepreneurs in our Fuzia community?
My advice is simple but powerful—start with self-discovery. Take time to truly know your strengths, your values, and your essence as a woman. When you’re rooted in that awareness, you walk into every room, every board meeting, every opportunity with confidence and clarity. We often seek validation from others, but the real power comes from within. Know yourself, love yourself, and the world will respond in kind.
“When we discover who we truly are, we stop shrinking ourselves to fit the world—and instead, we step into our power to change it.” — Jenny Teeters
