James Valentine’s journey is one of profound transformation — from minister to mental health professional to life coach. With over 30 years of experience, he has dedicated his life to helping people break free from suffering, anxiety, and self-doubt. Recognized twice as one of the top coaches in Las Vegas, James brings both wisdom and compassion to his mission of helping others connect deeply with their souls. His story reminds us that true leadership begins within — and that freedom, both emotional and spiritual, is every human’s birthright.
Q: James, what inspired you to begin this journey as a coach?
I’ve been doing this work for more than 30 years, beginning as a minister in Christianity and later transitioning into mental health and coaching. What inspires me most is humanity’s potential — our ability to be free from suffering, anxiety, and the constant question of “Why is this happening to me?” I’m fortunate to have been recognized as one of the top coaches in Vegas and to have a bestselling book, but for me, it’s never about the titles. It’s about that one person who experiences a shift — an a-ha moment that changes everything.
Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while building your practice?
The hardest part has been the technical side — sales pages, marketing, and finding the right words to reach people. As coaches, most of us just want to show up and serve. But when it comes to communicating that value, it takes work. Learning how to invite people in while staying authentic has been one of my greatest challenges.
Q: Are you currently working solo or do you have a team?
I’m a solopreneur, but I’m certainly supported. I’ve had teams in the past and plan to rebuild one soon. For now, I rely on people close to me who I can trust for small tasks and on a community of fellow business owners. We meet regularly to support and uplift one another.
Q: What milestones stand out most in your journey?
There are two — one from the highest point and one from the lowest. The high point was being recognized as one of the top coaches in Las Vegas for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024. It was special because Vegas is full of incredible coaches and thought leaders.
The low point, however, was about four years ago when I hit rock bottom. I didn’t want to continue — I felt completely lost. That moment became my turning point. I reconnected with my soul, and it changed everything — how I lived, how I worked, how I served. It was the darkest time of my life, but also the most transformative.
Q: You’ve worked closely with many women. What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
Most of my clients are women, and through them, I’ve witnessed the incredible rise of the divine feminine. For centuries, women have been suppressed — even punished — for their wisdom, empathy, and intuition. But today, there’s a massive shift. Movements like Me Too have opened doors for accountability and empowerment. Women are reclaiming their rightful place of power, and though there’s still a long way to go, it’s beautiful to witness.
Q: What message would you like to share with future women leaders?
Continue being bold and courageous. Don’t take “no” for an answer, and don’t compromise your truth. The women who came before you faced immense criticism and still paved the way for the freedom you have now. There will always be resistance — but don’t blink first. Stand firm in who you are, what you want, and what you know you deserve. That strength is leadership.
Q: Finally, what does success mean to you — personally and professionally?
Success, for me, is peace. Professionally, it’s being content with how I’m showing up and the difference I’m making. Personally, it’s about being connected to my soul — not living in the mind, but leading with the heart. When I’m in alignment with that, everything else flows.
“Be connected to your soul. When you’re aligned with that truth, success — in every form — naturally follows.” – James Valentine
