Flo, what inspired you to start your journey as a coach?
Thank you for this opportunity. There were three things that really shaped this journey. First, I realized at one point that I was working so hard, it became the reason I existed. Then I fell ill, which forced me to reevaluate everything. I reconnected with my core values—love, respect, openness—and that changed how I approached life and work. The second moment came when I looked at my diverse interests—art, psychology, leadership, organizational development—and realized the intersection of all those things was coaching. It just clicked. And lastly, with so much change in our world—especially digital transformation—I wanted to help people navigate work in a healthier, more empowered way. Coaching became the perfect avenue to do that.
What were some challenges you faced, both as a leader and as a coach?
I’ve faced different challenges in both paths. As a young woman in leadership, especially in tech spaces dominated by white men, I struggled to find my place. It was intimidating to walk into rooms and feel confident. Thankfully, I had mentors who encouraged me to take risks, and that shaped my leadership journey.
When I became a coach, the challenges shifted. I went from working in teams to working solo. That brought fears: “What if I fail? What if no one cares about what I write or say?” But I grounded myself in my purpose—helping people find clarity and confidence—and that gave me the courage to keep showing up. I often say it just takes 1% more courage than fear to move forward. And I’ve lived that truth.
Is there an achievement or proud moment you’d like to share with us?
Absolutely. It’s not one big milestone—it’s a collection of small, powerful moments. Every time a client tells me, “I asked for that promotion,” or “I turned down a job that didn’t align with my values,” or “I exceeded my goals”—those are victories. I’m proud of being there, holding space for them to explore, challenge themselves, and grow. They do the work, but I feel honored to walk with them on that journey. And honestly, anytime my mom is proud of me and cheering me on, that’s a huge win in my book too.
Are you currently working solo or do you have a team supporting you?
I mostly work solo. Coaching is very personal, and while it can be challenging at times, I enjoy the depth of connection and the autonomy it brings. It’s my space to serve wholeheartedly.
“It only takes 1% more courage than fear to do the thing that scares you. Lean into that courage—you’ll be amazed where it takes you.”
