Elvi Caperonis: Helping People Reinvent Themselves with Resilience and Purpose

Elvi Caperonis

Elvi Caperonis, originally from the Dominican Republic and now based in the United States, is a leadership coach and entrepreneur who embodies resilience, determination, and faith. From humble beginnings to building a global career in tech and leadership, Elvi’s journey is a testament to hard work, persistence, and the power of positivity. Humans of Fuzia is featuring her story to inspire our 5 million community members—women and allies working together for empowerment—showing that setbacks can become stepping stones when approached with courage and vision.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your journey and where it all began?
Elvi: I was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in very humble circumstances. Life wasn’t easy, but my grandmother and mother instilled in me the belief that with faith in God, hard work, and resilience, better days would come. I couldn’t afford college, so I applied for scholarships, worked hard in school, and earned opportunities that eventually led me to Madrid, Spain, for a master’s degree. That opened the door to a career in consulting and later positions at Harvard University and Amazon.

Q: You’ve built an impressive following online. How did that journey start?
Elvi: It all began in 2020, during the pandemic. I saw so many people losing their jobs, and I wanted to share positivity and insights from my own experiences. I started posting on LinkedIn—completely organically, authentically, and as myself. At first, no one noticed; I got no likes and no followers. But I kept improving, learning, and engaging. Today, thousands of people follow me because they know when I respond, it’s truly me—not an assistant or a team. That authenticity is something I deeply value.

Q: What drives your mission today?
Elvi: My biggest goal right now is to help at least 100 people start their own businesses, especially using AI to reinvent themselves. I was laid off last year, and I know what it feels like to face closed doors. But I believe we can build our own doors—and even our own tables where we invite others to sit with us. I want to support people, especially those laid off after years of work, to realize their expertise can create opportunities not only for themselves but for others too.

Q: What challenges do you face in pursuing this mission?
Elvi: Every new venture comes with uncertainty. For me, embracing AI in my business has been both exciting and challenging. Sometimes I launch applications that don’t succeed. That can feel like failure, but I don’t see it as something to hide—I share it openly because failing is part of innovation. If you’re not failing, you’re probably not trying hard enough. I see every setback as part of the journey, and I want others to feel that way too.

Q: What message would you like to leave for our readers?
Elvi: Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, failures, and rejections—but it’s important to enjoy the process. Don’t wait only for the moment of success to feel fulfilled. Even when you’re trying and failing, there is purpose in that experience. If you have a mission that impacts others, let that carry you through the hard parts. Enjoy the journey, because it’s in those moments of growth that we find true meaning.

“In everything you do, find joy in the journey—even in failure—because it’s all part of the process of building something meaningful.” – Elvi Caperonis
