Featured on Humans of Fuzia, her story will resonate deeply with our 5-million-strong global community committed to uplifting women and their voices. Through her experiences, Dr. Reid reminds us that healing starts within—and that self-awareness is the first step to reclaiming your power.
What inspired you to start your own healing practice?
I always knew I wanted to be a pediatrician, but during medical school, I realized that Western medicine often caused more harm than healing. My travels exposed me to various healing practices and led me to become a naturopath. After practicing for nearly 10 years, I noticed most of my clients were women over 40 dealing with emotional and physical burdens that traditional medicine ignored. That realization inspired me to create Your Healing Place—a space where women could unpack, heal, and reconnect with their spirit, mind, and body.
Who is your primary audience, and why do you focus on women 40 and above?
Women 40+ are often dismissed as just “going through menopause.” But I’ve found that many of their symptoms—like breast or uterine issues—stem from years of emotional suppression and self-neglect. These women are caregivers, people-pleasers, and multitaskers. Their own well-being is often the last priority. I want to change that narrative and help them feel seen, heard, and supported through holistic care.
What kind of transformation do your clients experience through your work?
It starts with just one question: How do you feel? That simple question opens the door to deep conversations. Women often say, “No one’s ever listened to me like this before.” After that first consult, many feel lighter, seen, and hopeful. That’s when true healing begins. They leave the call with a sense of clarity and a renewed connection with themselves.
Have you ever experienced self-doubt or imposter syndrome in your journey?
Yes, absolutely. I once believed I had to mimic an MD to be taken seriously—wearing a white coat, setting up a clinical office. But it felt inauthentic. I had the degrees, the training, the experience. I just needed to embrace my truth. Once I redesigned my space with fish tanks, soothing music, and a warm atmosphere, my practice flourished. I stopped comparing myself and started educating others on what true holistic healing means.
Looking back, is there anything you would’ve done differently?
Honestly, no. Every experience—even the challenges—was a learning moment. But one thing I didn’t anticipate was rapid growth. I started small, not thinking I’d need a bigger space so soon. Within two years, I had two offices. That taught me to dream bigger and think globally from the start.
What does success look like to you today—both personally and professionally?
I’m living it now. I have time freedom, I travel the world speaking, and I run a fully virtual practice. I get to spend time with my family, especially my grandchildren, and I’ve found balance. For years, I gave everyone my best—but left myself behind. Now, I live the life I teach.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I want women to feel autonomous and confident in their health journey. They should know their bodies, trust their intuition, and not feel afraid when something feels off. I teach them how to become their own healers—to check in emotionally and physically the same way they would take their car for a service. My mission is to give them lifelong tools, not lifelong dependency.
Are there any current projects or offerings you’re excited about?
Yes! I’m launching The Flourish Circle, a private community for women to come together, scan their health through tech tools, and understand the emotional and physical connection in their bodies. It’s a monthly membership with education, group discussions, and one-on-one support. I’m also hosting our second international wellness retreat in March—our last one in the Dominican Republic was a transformational experience for everyone involved.
