Dawn Ledet: Helping Others Build Self-Trust as a Life Strategy

Dawn Ledet

Meet Dawn Ledet, the founder of The Self-Trust Coach, a former hospitality executive turned transformational life coach. After spending over two decades in high-powered sales and marketing roles, Dawn recognized a deep disconnect between productivity and personal fulfillment. Her journey of self-reflection led her to an unexpected yet powerful truth—self-trust is not just a mindset; it’s a life-changing strategy. Now, she dedicates her work to guiding others to build that same self-trust and align their lives with purpose and intention.

At Humans of Fuzia, we’re proud to feature Dawn as part of our mission to amplify authentic voices and empower our global community of over 5 million women. Her story is a profound reminder of how inner work leads to outer impact, inspiring our “She for She” and “He for She” community to pursue growth with courage.

Tell us a little about how your journey as a coach began. What was the turning point?
I spent over 20 years in the hospitality industry as a Director of Sales and Marketing. One day, I realized I was “overworking and underliving.” I sold my car just to force myself to walk to work, thinking it would bring balance. But during those walks, I had a realization: why did I have to force myself into boundaries? That’s when I understood I was lacking self-trust. I started working on that within myself—and it changed everything. That journey inspired me to help others do the same.

What were some challenges you faced when starting out, and how did you overcome them?
I’d never started a business before. I wasn’t even a coach yet—I went and got certified, not knowing all it would entail. But self-trust teaches you that the how doesn’t matter as much as the doing. I embraced discomfort, did things messy, and gathered data from every experience. I always tell my clients: “Do it for data.” You can’t create certainty by sitting still. You learn by moving forward, even imperfectly.

What’s one achievement you’re really proud of?
I never planned to write a book, and now I’ve written two. I’ve coached thousands of people in the last five years. But the real win is how self-trust transformed my life and is now transforming the lives of others. That ripple effect means everything to me.

What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
Many women feel they need to do everything. But I believe in what I call intentional neglect—making peace with giving less attention to some things in order to prioritize what truly matters. It’s about systems that support your values, not perfection. Growth often requires discomfort, and women need to give themselves permission to step into leadership even if it means letting go of what’s familiar.

What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs and future leaders?
If there’s a whisper in your heart, it’s there for a reason. Answer it. That doesn’t mean rushing in, but it also doesn’t mean ignoring it. Take tiny steps—because they compound. And do it not for perfection, but for data and learning. That builds real momentum.

Are you a solopreneur or do you have a team that supports you?
I have an amazing support system—friends, family, a community of life coaches from my certification program, and virtual assistant support. I’m not doing it all alone, and that’s something I value deeply.

What’s your personal definition of success?
Success is when you’re moving toward your goals in a way that fills you and fuels you—not drains you. It may be uncomfortable, but it should be growth-driven. There’s a kind of tired that’s fulfilling because it means you’re doing the work that truly matters.

“There are people who need what you have to offer. The more you hold yourself back, the more you deny them—and yourself.” – Dawn Ledet
