What inspired you to start your journey as a business advisor?
Early in my career, I worked with business owners who were amazing at generating ideas and revenue, but completely lost when it came to understanding financial data. I saw companies suffering due to poor financial decisions—owners with expensive assets, high-interest debts, and no real systems. It became clear to me that they needed someone to bridge that gap. So in the late ‘80s, I started consulting part-time and eventually went all in. My passion is helping entrepreneurs focus on what they do best—finding opportunities—and build systems to handle the rest.
What were some challenges you faced when starting out?
One major challenge was communicating financial concepts in a language business owners could understand. They didn’t speak “accounting,” and I had to learn how to translate what I knew into practical terms that mattered to them. Studying the ontology of language helped me realize how much our personal narratives shape how we interpret and react to situations. That shift in perspective changed how I coached leaders—and how they started transforming their own organizations.
What’s one achievement you’re most proud of—personal or professional?
Honestly, I’m most proud of my four children. They’ve grown into successful, independent, kind people. Professionally, I take pride in helping business owners regain joy in their work—when someone tells me they’ve found freedom and clarity in their business again, that’s incredibly rewarding.
What advice would you give to future women leaders and entrepreneurs?
First, define your vision—something bigger than yourself, something that contributes to the world. A strong vision attracts the right people and sets the direction for your business. Ask yourself: What kind of culture do I want? What markets do I want to serve? What impact do I want to create?
Second, remember that language creates reality. The way you talk to yourself, your team, and your clients shapes what’s possible. Live in empowering narratives. And finally, don’t chase happiness—seek satisfaction. When you’re aligned with your vision and making progress, satisfaction brings deeper and more lasting fulfillment than momentary happiness ever could.
“Empower yourself by changing the story you tell. Redefine your narrative—and you’ll redefine what’s possible for you and everyone around you.”
