Her journey reflects resilience, collaboration, and a deep belief in community — values that strongly align with Humans of Fuzia’s mission of empowering women and celebrating “He for She and She for She” leadership.
What inspired you to start your journey in the events industry?
I started out in event management about 20 years ago, and I was drawn to it because of the people, the energy, and the hospitality culture. It just seemed like a fun, meaningful space — and it truly has been. The people in this industry are some of the most genuine and passionate individuals I’ve ever met, which keeps me inspired even today.
What has been your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been navigating my path as a woman leader in business. There weren’t many visible women leaders when I started out, so I created the Association for Women in Events in 2015 — a community where women could support, uplift, and champion each other. That experience taught me that when women come together, we change industries. Building that network was my way of facing the challenge head-on.
Are you a solopreneur or part of a larger team now?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside my corporate roles, I’ve built businesses, including a wedding planning company and consulting ventures. These days, I work with an incredible corporate team and also serve on advisory boards. I no longer do anything truly “solo” — community and mentorship are at the core of all I do.
What’s been your proudest milestone so far?
Being named one of the Top 50 Meeting Planners in the United States and Changemaker of the Year twice for my work empowering women are moments I hold dear. But more than the titles, I’m proud of the brand and the community I’ve built — one that resonates with women who want to “have it all” and define success on their own terms.
What are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
We’ve made incredible progress, especially in the past decade, but we still have work to do. I’d love to look around boardrooms and conference stages and see equal representation — or even all-women panels for a change! It’s not about excluding men; it’s about creating balance. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, but I want to see even more women taking up space in leadership roles.
What advice do you have for aspiring women leaders and entrepreneurs?
Find your mentors and champions early. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the women who inspire you — we want to support you. Most leaders are more open than you think. Building those connections will not only guide you but also open doors to opportunities you might never have imagined.
How do you define success — personally and professionally?
Success looks different for everyone. For a long time, I equated it with hard work and recognition. But after experiencing burnout, I redefined it to mean balance — between work, wellness, and family. For me, success is about living with intention, giving myself space for wellness, and empowering others to rise with me.
“Success is not about doing it all — it’s about finding balance, elevating others, and building a community that lifts everyone higher.”
