What were your initial years of growing up like? Tell us about your life before starting your corporate journey/venture/initiative.

Growing up, my early years were marked by turbulence and a deep sense of not belonging due to abuse. I built walls to hide my pain, as seeking counselling wasn’t an option in the era I was born. Instead, I found guidance and direction in the word of God. From a young age, I felt a calling to care for others and help them achieve wholeness.

The journey was far from easy; it took a lot of work to heal myself. But with determination and a commitment to keeping my body as a sacred temple, I drew strength and wisdom from my great-grandaunt and grandmother. Their care and teachings empowered me to become who I am today. With over 30 years in the spa and wellness industry, I now help others reclaim their power and resilience.

I love making new friends, dancing, singing, cooking, reading, and walking in my free time. These passions keep me grounded and inspired. My story is a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, resilience and the unwavering belief that we can all find our unstoppable strength within.

Was there any turning point in your life that changed your journey? If so, what was it? Please tell us the backstory behind it.

The turning point came when I heard a voice saying, “If you do that, God will be upset with you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.” At that moment, I questioned, “What does God have to do with this? Didn’t He see what happened to me as a child?”

I was on my way to church, filled with anger and a desire for revenge. I had been hurt so many times and decided I wouldn’t settle for just one partner. I planned to use men the same way I was used, seeking material things to make me happy. I thought if I had five men, each providing for me, I would find satisfaction, forgetting the cost of such a plan.

Then, I was struck by a profound realisation: “You’re no better than a prostitute on the corner. The only difference is you’re doing it in hotels. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.” This hit me like a lightning bolt, knocking my senses into shape. I realised I wasn’t hurting these men; I was hurting myself. I was risking my health and my soul.

This moment of clarity pulled me back from a path of self-destruction. It was then I understood that my body, my spirit, deserved respect and care. This epiphany set me on a new journey of self-love and healing, leading me to dedicate my life to helping others find their own paths to wholeness and resilience.

Every industry that is now a large-scale, top-notch business once started as a small idea in the minds of entrepreneurs. What was that idea or motivation that made you start your business /initiative? What motivated you within to say “YES, go for it!”

My desire to see people healed is what set me on this journey. Initially, I wanted to become a nurse but couldn’t stand the sight of blood. So, I explored other roles within the health sector. Later, I studied beauty therapy and worked as a Spa Therapist on cruise liners. After a brief stint as a spa manager, I returned to university and earned a first-class honours bachelor’s in spa management. I then owned a spa, creating a holistic and personalised experience for my clients rather than just a conveyor belt service.

However, the pandemic forced me to close my spa. On Mother’s Day 2020, I experienced a profound sense of release. The pain and hurt I had carried for over four decades began to lift. This epiphany drove me to create The Unstoppable Life. It was a transformative experience that pulled me out of a deep, dark hole and allowed me to see the light of who I am becoming.

My journey, marked by challenges and revelations, has deepened my commitment to helping others find their paths to healing and resilience. Through The Unstoppable Life, I aim to empower others with the same sense of wholeness and self-discovery that has guided me.

Everyone has their own set of challenges when starting an entrepreneurial journey. Still, the most essential part for others to learn is how you deal with those. Would you like to share with us your challenges and your coping mechanisms?

As a woman of colour and spa owner, my entrepreneurial journey has been filled with unique challenges. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is not to compare myself to others; we each have unique experiences and strengths.

I’ve also discovered that only some people who claim to be experts can truly deliver on their promises. While loyalty to those you outsource tasks to is essential, knowing when to move on is equally crucial. Trusting my intuition has been vital in navigating these challenges. It guides me in protecting myself and surrounding myself with people who truly understand and support my vision.

Through these experiences, I’ve brought my dreams to fruition and created a space where healing and empowerment thrive. My journey has taught me resilience, discernment, and the power of staying true to my path.

While the global pandemic of COVID-19 is associated primarily with adversities, it has also brought about a true boom in startups, with successful entrepreneurship in many countries. The pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Would you like to share your experience on a personal and professional level?

The global pandemic had a profound effect on my life, both personally and professionally. My spa had to close, and while I missed the interaction with clients and colleagues, it gave me a chance to slow down and reassess what truly matters in life. During this period of reflection, past dark experiences I had buried deep within resurfaced, and in those still and quiet days, I finally released the pain and sorrow I had carried for so long. This release became the fuel I needed to embark on the next chapter of my life with renewed hope.

The pandemic introduced a new way of connecting with people instantly, from all over the world. It felt like the penpal world had transformed into face-to-face conversations with someone across the globe. Although these technologies existed before, I never really paid attention to them until then. The pandemic gave me the opportunity to view life differently, both professionally and personally.

For me, the pandemic became a blessing in disguise. It allowed me to appreciate the little things in life that hold significant meaning for my well-being. This period of forced pause transformed my personal and professional life, guiding me towards a path that is beneficial not just for myself, but for the greater good of mankind.

Your journey and your vision are very inspiring, but are there any achievements or accomplishments you would like to mention?

Ten years ago, I heard a voice in my spirit urging me to start my own TV show. My initial reaction was much like Moses—I felt I didn’t have what it takes. So, I quieted that guiding voice, unsure of my ability to pursue bigger and greater things.

Over the years, I achieved remarkable milestones. In 2017, my spa won the Dorset Tourism Silver Award for Spa and Wellbeing Experience of the Year, a testament to the hard work and dedication I poured into my business. This achievement was a significant accomplishment and a proud moment in my journey.

Additionally, I ventured into new realms as a course creator, podcaster, and soon-to-be published author of several books designed to empower women towards self-actualisation and positive self-talk. These new roles have allowed me to share my experiences and insights, helping others to find their own paths to empowerment and resilience.

Each step of my journey has been a blend of challenges and triumphs, guided by a spirit of determination and faith. I’m excited for what the future holds and committed to helping others discover their potential and live unstoppable lives.

Would you like to share with our young budding women entrepreneurs the change you would like to see in the world if given an opportunity?

I can’t remember a time when the world felt so selfish, with people harboring so much hate towards one another. I’ve always believed in collaboration, and now, more than ever, we need women to support and uplift each other.

If given the opportunity, the change I would like to see in the world is the spread of LOVE. Take the time to listen and observe without making assumptions. Voice your opinions without being judgmental, and make it a priority to elevate other women. By doing so, you elevate yourself as well.

Celebrate your uniqueness, let your intuition guide you, and embrace your authentic self. This is the message I would share with young, budding women entrepreneurs: Be true to who you are, support one another, and together we can create a world filled with compassion and understanding.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in your personal life and professional journey? What is your personal motto in life?

The most important lesson I’ve learned in my personal and professional life is to take care of myself first. In the past, as women, we were taught that putting ourselves first was selfish. However, life has shown me the value of slowing down, meditating, and seeking guidance from my higher power, God. By having faith, I’ve discovered that the outcomes can be spectacular and rewarding.

Instead of constantly chasing after money, I now take the time to nurture my well-being. My personal motto is: “All things are possible. Live and let live.” This philosophy has guided me to a more balanced and fulfilling life, allowing me to be my best self both personally and professionally.

Women are a growing force in the workplaces worldwide, standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts. There are cracks in glass ceilings everywhere, with many women breaking through to carve out a space right at the top of the pyramid. What are your thoughts about women’s leadership today?

My thoughts on women in leadership today are that women were created for such a time as this! Women are natural-born CEOs, but somewhere along the way, they were seen as a threat. I believe this stems from the outdated notion that women are the weaker vessel and should not be given prominence. What is often overlooked is that women are helpmeets, the driving force in the family, equals, and peacemakers.

The rise of women in leadership roles is a tremendous asset to all nations. Women bring unique perspectives, strengths, and qualities that enhance and elevate the organisations and communities they lead. Embracing women in leadership not only fosters equality but also drives positive change and progress for everyone.

With your grit and determination, you are making a considerable impact, breaking through, and serving as role models for many budding entrepreneurs. What would you want to say to our young women leaders/audience reading this?

To the audience and young women reading this, I want to remind you that you are not shrinking violets; you are roses with a sweet-smelling fragrance. You will face challenges, but don’t see them as obstacles; see them as opportunities to break forth. A caterpillar isn’t a butterfly until it goes through the stages of transformation to become that beautiful creature radiating vibrance.

Look at the butterflies. They are not all the same, and they are not trying to outdo one another; they simply fly around in harmony. Be that butterfly that brings harmony, be the rose whose fragrance brings tranquility, and be the violet that stands firm and embraces her unique qualities.

Embrace your journey and let your true self shine, bringing beauty, peace, and strength to the world.
