Tom Pratt is the Director of Albert Road Consulting Ltd, a UK-based digital marketing agency specializing in SEO, strategy, and analytics. With a deep focus on supporting charities and non-profit organizations, Tom has dedicated his career to helping purpose-driven teams remove barriers, expand their reach, and create meaningful impact. His journey is one of leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to making marketing not just about visibility, but about driving positive change in society.
Q: Tell us about Albert Road Consulting and the mission behind it.
Tom: Albert Road Consulting started in 2017 and has primarily focused on supporting organizations in the charity and non-profit sector. We aim to empower teams by breaking down barriers and helping them run impactful campaigns—whether for fundraising, events, awareness, or accessibility. Over the next few years, our ambition is to expand further, creating resources and content that make digital marketing more accessible to the sector.
Q: With the rapid growth of AI, how do you view its role in marketing today?
Tom: It’s certainly a huge shift. AI can feel intimidating, but we see it as a tool to work more efficiently—helping us with first drafts, spotting gaps, and sense-checking ideas. Creativity and understanding client needs still remain very human. While some roles may change or become redundant due to efficiency gains, new opportunities are also created. What’s critical is ensuring equal access to AI so it benefits everyone, not just a few.
Q: You are also involved with OnGo as a non-executive director. Could you share a bit about that?
Tom: OnGo is a housing association in Lincolnshire, focused on affordable and social housing. I serve on the commercial board, which oversees companies that generate funds reinvested into the community. It’s a new area for me, but a rewarding one—especially as housing remains such a crucial challenge in the UK.
Q: What are your thoughts on women empowerment in leadership and entrepreneurship?
Tom: First, I’d like to acknowledge the support I receive from my wife and daughter—it’s invaluable. As a white middle-aged man, I recognize the privilege I hold, and I believe in creating environments where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. You get the best results when people from different backgrounds feel empowered to contribute. I’ve been fortunate to work with inspiring women like Kirstie Hulse, founder of Many Minds, and Areej AbuAli, founder of Women in Tech SEO, both of whom have built impactful communities. Success, in my experience, always comes down to the people you collaborate with.
Q: As a director, what’s the biggest challenge you face today?
Tom: Income generation and cash flow remain the constant challenges—especially with political shifts, AI advancements, and market changes. Navigating uncertainty means focusing on building resilient and diverse teams, as well as diversifying income streams. History shows that organizations with diversity—both in people and revenue sources—are more robust and adaptable during times of change.
“I truly believe success is about building strong, diverse teams and creating environments where everyone can thrive. Collaboration and inclusivity lead to the best results for organizations and for society.” – Tom Pratt
