Stephen Samuel: Streamlining Small Businesses Through Smart Automation

Stephen Samuel

Stephen Samuel is the founder of NexFusion, a company dedicated to helping small businesses reclaim their time through automation and AI-powered solutions. With a background in financial communications and consulting, Stephen identified a market gap where growing companies often lack the resources to scale efficiently. His entrepreneurial journey reflects the courage to leave the corporate world to create solutions that make businesses run smarter. Humans of Fuzia is featuring his story to inspire our 5 million community members, highlighting the value of innovation, adaptability, and the pursuit of meaningful work.

Q: Stephen, can you share how your journey led to the creation of NexFusion?
A: My background has always been in communications, particularly financial communications. I worked with a range of companies—from large, global listed firms to small startups. While working at Hardman & Co in London, I became really interested in automation and AI. I saw that many growing businesses were overwhelmed with manual tasks or lacked the resources to hire big teams. That’s when I realized there was an opportunity to help them save time and optimize their processes. This idea became NexFusion—a company focused on combining CRM, automation, and marketing solutions to make small businesses run more efficiently.

Q: Who do you primarily serve, and what problems are you solving for them?
A: Our core audience is small businesses making under a million in revenue—think hospitality, real estate, automotive, and local service providers. These companies often know their audience but are new to marketing automation. They might have social media or an email platform, but they’re not using them effectively. We step in to streamline their workflows, reduce manual effort, and essentially become an extension of their team. We’ve also started working with larger firms, but our “bread and butter” remains helping smaller businesses unlock their potential.

Q: What do you find is the most challenging part of running your business?
A: Client acquisition is always a challenge, especially in a crowded space where AI and automation are growing fast. We focus on building genuine connections—meeting clients, understanding their operations, and creating bespoke solutions instead of offering cookie-cutter services. It’s about learning their pain points and showing how automation can truly give them time back.

Q: What does success look like to you personally?
A: For me, success is waking up every day excited about what I do. Starting my own business gave me the chance to explore parts of myself that I never had to in the corporate world. I enjoy the learning process—networking with other founders, pitching to clients, and tackling new challenges. Even when I fail at something, the growth that comes from it makes the journey worthwhile. Success, to me, is a life of constant learning and fulfillment.

Q: Are there any upcoming milestones or goals for NexFusion that you’re excited about?
A: We’re celebrating our one-year anniversary soon, which is a big milestone. We’ll be networking with local businesses and partners to mark the occasion. We’re also going to be featured in a major piece on marketing automation later this year. Beyond that, we’re excited to move into new industries like finance and legal while continuing to support the small businesses that need us most.

Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting their entrepreneurial journey?
A: Don’t underestimate the power of really knowing your market and listening to your clients. Every business has unique challenges, and tailoring your solution to fit their needs builds trust and long-term relationships. Also, embrace the learning curve—entrepreneurship will push you in ways that are challenging but incredibly rewarding.

“Building a business is as much about growing yourself as it is about serving others.” – Stephen Samuel
