Q: Who is Sonya Hudson, and how would you describe yourself?
Sonya Hudson: I didn’t start my career intending to be a therapist. I’ve always been inquisitive about spirituality and the mind. Over the years, I worked as a hairdresser, in the police, and ran multiple businesses, but I kept learning—homeopathy, hypnotherapy, NLP, Reiki, EFT. Now, I combine all of these with a deep love for helping people. The most fulfilling part is seeing the spark in a client’s eyes when they overcome a challenge—when their “light” comes back, I know I’ve done my job. At 62, I have no intentions of retiring because I love what I do.

Q: Can you tell us about your venture, Mind Your Life Training?
Sonya Hudson: Mind Your Life Training was the initial idea, focused on organizational coaching and communication skills. Today, I primarily run Hypnotherapy Newcastle, where I offer one-on-one sessions and online consultations. My focus is helping people recover from trauma, anxiety, phobias, stress, and other life challenges. Clients can find me on Google Maps under Hypnotherapy Newcastle, and I’ve received many organic reviews reflecting the positive impact of my work.

Q: Who is your target audience?
Sonya Hudson: Honestly, I don’t have a strict niche. I work with anyone—from children as young as three to seniors. I believe every problem starts with a belief or experience that has created a negative imprint on the mind. My work involves “re-filming” that imprint, helping clients move forward with a clearer perspective and a lighter mindset.

Q: How do people find out about you?
Sonya Hudson: Most of my clients come through referrals, which I prefer because they come with built-in trust. I also advertise on Google with pay-per-click campaigns, but word-of-mouth has always been my strongest source of new clients.

Q: What challenges do you face in your business?
Sonya Hudson: Long hours can be challenging. I adapt my schedule to clients across different time zones, which can be tiring. As I get older, balancing my workload and personal life requires careful management.

Q: Any short-term plans for the rest of 2025?
Sonya Hudson: Short-term, I plan to keep moving forward with my practice as usual. Long-term, I hope to start running workshops again, although more selectively, balancing my work with time for family and friends. COVID changed a lot, and I value my time more than ever.

Q: Any motivational message for womenpreneurs and professionals?
Sonya Hudson: Find your joy. Discover what brings you happiness, and put effort into cultivating it. Joy is the elixir of life. Share it with others, and let it be an example. For me, my joy comes from family, friends, and connecting with people I’ve yet to meet. The wisdom and inspiration we get from children and young ones are invaluable—they teach lessons books cannot.

Sonya’s journey demonstrates that pursuing purpose, nurturing curiosity, and helping others is timeless. Her message encourages women to prioritize joy, embrace learning, and create meaningful impact in their personal and professional lives.
