Sharon Blackborow: Helping People Transform Their Lives with Grounded, Inclusive Coaching

Sharon Blackborow

For Sharon Blackborow, coaching isn’t just a profession—it’s a space for transformation, identity exploration, and building inclusive communities. Based in the U.S., Sharon runs Blackborow Coaching & Consulting, a practice rooted in authenticity, intersectionality, and meaningful change. As a leadership and life coach, Sharon works closely with individuals, especially women, neurodivergent individuals, and those navigating identity journeys. Through her work, she reminds us that we don’t need to agree on everything to love and uplift each other. Humans of Fuzia is proud to share Sharon’s inspiring journey as part of our global community of 5 million changemakers where stories of empowerment, belonging, and resilience take center stage.

Tell us a little about your business and your journey so far.
I run Blackborow Coaching & Consulting, a small but deeply personal practice. I primarily work one-on-one with clients—some come through organizations, and others are individuals seeking change. My specialty is transformation. I’m not the right coach if you’re simply looking for job search help, but I am the right person if you want to rethink your entire career as part of your life’s journey. I also work with a close-knit community of other solopreneurs, sharing clients, resources, and ideas, so every client finds the right fit for their growth.

Who is your target audience?
My work often focuses on identity—whether it’s racial identity, gender identity, or other aspects of self. I work extensively with women and neurodivergent individuals, which is close to my heart. My oldest child is autistic, ADHD, non-binary, and queer. So, intersectionality and identity exploration are vital parts of my practice.

How do people usually find you?
I’ve built a strong network over the years, having worked across New Jersey, Maryland, and with international organizations. Most people find me through referrals, word of mouth, or LinkedIn, which is my main platform. I’ve consciously stepped away from Facebook and Instagram, focusing my energy on authentic connections rather than chasing followers.

What challenges have you faced as a solopreneur?
The ebb and flow of business is a constant challenge, especially in the coaching and consulting space. Building a steady client pipeline and navigating economic uncertainties—particularly in America right now—can be tough. People are cautious about spending on self-development. To adapt, I’ve been proactive—sharing thought leadership, creating useful content, and piloting new offerings like asynchronous coaching, where clients can engage with me via voice memos or texts without formal sessions. It’s cost-effective and blends AI with human support in a meaningful way.

What are your short-term goals for this year?
I’m currently finishing a book, which I hope will become a valuable asset for clients. I’m also officially launching my asynchronous coaching program after a successful pilot run. Alongside coaching, I love teaching and will be incorporating more of that into my work as well.

Any message you’d like to share with our audience?
What I’ve been holding in my heart lately is: We don’t have to agree on anything to love each other. The world feels divisive, but staying grounded in who you are and leading with love—especially as a woman entrepreneur—will always serve you well. You’ll face resistance, but never underestimate the power of grounded, authentic leadership.
