Shannon Hrycak: Helping Women and Children Heal Deep Wounds through Reiki and Self-Love

Shannon

Shannon Hrycak is a Reiki healer and energy guide from Alberta, Canada, whose transformational journey from trauma to empowerment now fuels her mission to help others do the same. With a deep passion for supporting women and children through spiritual and emotional healing, Shannon uses her intuitive gifts and the power of Reiki to guide others through their shadows into light. Her story, filled with resilience, heart, and soulful purpose, is being featured on Humans of Fuzia to inspire our global community of 5 million changemakers. At Fuzia, we believe in the power of stories to create change—this is He for She and She for She in action.

Tell us about the beginning of your Reiki journey. What led you to this path?
I started practicing Reiki in 2016. Originally, it was to protect my own energy because, growing up, I was extremely sensitive. I could feel people’s emotions, hear their thoughts, and absorb their energy without realizing what was happening. Reiki helped me manage that, but it soon became clear that it was more than just a tool—it was part of my life’s purpose.

What is the core mission behind the work you do today?
My mission is to support women—especially those who’ve experienced deep emotional trauma like I did. I grew up surrounded by narcissistic and emotionally abusive people. Through intense self-work and healing, I was able to break generational patterns and now help others do the same. I also support gifted children, especially those with ADHD or on the spectrum, and show their families how to nurture their unique energy instead of suppressing it.

How do you bring awareness to your work in the digital space?
I have a website and I’m active on platforms like TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. I post daily now, stepping past the fear of being seen and just trusting the right people will find me. I’ve also done local outreach with flyers and built relationships with local chiropractors and holistic spaces. It’s been a mix of digital and grassroots.

Are you working alone or do you have a support system?
I create all my content myself and enjoy making videos, but it’s been a challenge getting the right audience. I did work with someone earlier for my website, but for the most part, it’s just me doing the outreach and creation. I believe when the intention is right, the energy finds its way to the people who need it.

What are your short-term goals for the future?
By the end of 2025, I want to start hosting workshops for women and their daughters and for children in general. I’d love to bring in other practitioners—yoga instructors, self-defense trainers, or anyone offering something fun and healing—to create holistic, engaging events. I also want to expand my distance Reiki teaching so more people can learn to heal themselves.

What are some of the challenges you currently face in your journey?
The biggest challenge is getting in front of the right audience. I know the work I do can deeply impact lives, but reaching the people who are open to it—especially where I live in Alberta—is tough. There’s still skepticism around spirituality here, which makes it harder to connect. I’m also looking for more creative ways to advertise and share my message in ways that resonate.

What’s a message you’d like to leave with our readers?
Be patient and kind with yourself. The world pulls us outward, but real transformation starts within. When you love yourself fully and truly, no one and nothing can shake your foundation. Everything is love—when we understand that, we’re free.

“When you can love yourself for all that you are, and nobody can change your mind—nothing will stop you. It’s all about love.” Shannon’s story is a reminder that healing ourselves creates a ripple that heals generations.
