Q: What inspired you to start Grow, Transform, Belong and Penal Reform Solutions?
A: My journey started even before I was born. Due to a medical incident during my mother’s pregnancy, I grew up with hemiplegia and a deep awareness of the challenges institutions can create. This fueled my passion for justice. I began working in prisons, realized the need for real rehabilitation and humane systems, and committed to transforming prison culture. That calling led me to start Penal Reform Solutions and later Grow, Transform, Belong, focusing on culture change, leadership, and social impact.

Q: Could you share a bit about the business model of Grow, Transform, Belong?
A: Everything we do centers on culture change. We work with criminal justice settings and corporates that want to support ethical and social responsibility. We focus on empowering people with lived experience of prison to become change agents and advise employers on creating inclusive workplaces. Ultimately, it’s about using leadership, relationships, and support to make lasting impact.

Q: What are your thoughts on women empowerment?
A: Women often face imposter syndrome, toxic work cultures, and the guilt of balancing professional and personal lives. Many brilliant ideas never see the light because women underestimate their worth. Awareness, support, and confidence are crucial. Personally, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors and a supportive husband, but systemic support is key for all women to rise and lead confidently.

Q: Have you ever faced imposter syndrome, and how do you manage it?
A: Absolutely. Networking in male-dominated spaces has been challenging, especially as an introvert. I overcame it by shifting focus from proving myself to finding the right collaborators and partners aligned with my mission. It’s about focusing on purpose rather than insecurities.

Q: What are your thoughts on AI and its role in creativity and work?
A: AI is a tool that can enhance creativity and efficiency. It helps generate ideas, pull information quickly, and tailor work meaningfully. While automation may replace transactional tasks, relational and human-centered work remains irreplaceable. I see AI as a way to free up time to focus on what truly matters—human connection and impact.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge as a business leader?
A: Stability and cash flow are ongoing challenges, alongside balancing personal well-being with business needs. Working in traumatic environments requires self-care and compassion to maintain long-term sustainability. It’s crucial to prioritize well-being to continue making an impact.

Q: How do you maintain balance in your life?
A: Creating habits and setting boundaries is essential. I protect time for personal activities, exercise, and self-care. Recognizing that entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint, has helped me sustain energy, focus, and health while driving meaningful change.

“Focus on your mission, take care of yourself, and trust that your passion and resilience will guide you to make a difference.”
