Roderick “Rod” Jeter: Changing the World One Couple at a Time

Roderick "Rod" Jeter

Roderick “Rod” Jeter is a best-selling author and the creator of YBAngry, a powerful tool designed to help couples resolve conflicts without fighting. His journey began with personal challenges in his own marriage, which inspired him to create a game that turns disagreements into opportunities for understanding. Today, Rod’s work is making an impact globally, helping couples strengthen communication, heal relationships, and rediscover joy. At Humans of Fuzia, we are honored to share his story with our 5M+ community as part of our mission to spotlight changemakers who inspire transformation and connection.

Q: Rod, what inspired you to create YBAngry?
A: A couple of decades ago, I went through marriage counseling, but my wife and I were actually asked to leave because it wasn’t working for us. That’s when I realized there had to be a better way. I started working on something that could help couples avoid the pain we went through. The result was YBAngry, a game that’s like couples coaching with instant results.

Q: How does YBAngry work, and what makes it different from traditional counseling?
A: Unlike counseling, YBAngry is designed to be fun, engaging, and structured. Couples focus on just one issue at a time, write before they talk, and most importantly, repeat back what they heard from their partner to confirm understanding. This creates space where each partner feels truly heard. It removes negative emotions, keeps conversations level-headed, and shifts the mindset from “me vs. you” to “us vs. the problem.”

Q: Who can benefit from your work?
A: YBAngry is for anyone who wants to preserve their relationship. My audience is global, ranging from ages 25 to 65, but honestly, any couple struggling with communication can benefit. Whether in person or over Zoom, I coach them to use the game and see results quickly.

Q: What message would you like to share about communication in relationships?
A: Earlier this year, I realized two things: we don’t know our partners as well as we think we do, and we don’t communicate as well as we believe we can. YBAngry helps remove assumptions and creates clarity. When couples use it, they stop seeing each other as the problem and start working together against the issue.

Q: With AI changing so many industries, what are your thoughts on its role in human relationships?
A: AI is powerful, but I think it could be dangerous if we don’t slow it down. It’s replacing a lot of jobs and could harm the economy. When it comes to relationships, I believe AI can’t replace human connection. Real communication, emotions, and disagreements—those are human experiences, and that’s what YBAngry helps preserve.

“We never know our partners as well as we think we do, and we don’t communicate as well as we believe we can. When we learn to truly hear each other, everything changes.” – Rod Jeter
