Her story is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the importance of lifelong learning—qualities that empower women to lead and thrive in today’s ever-changing world.
Q: Nicole, what first inspired you to start your coaching journey?
It evolved quite naturally. My background is in business development and marketing, and I was always involved in women’s and DEI networks in different companies. I met many incredible coaches through that work, and I saw how coaching could bring out the best in people. When I had the chance to take some time out, I traveled, then returned to take a coaching course. Initially, it was just to enhance my work in business development—helping people pitch, build confidence, and promote themselves—but it turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done. I went on to get my ACC accreditation with the International Coaching Federation, and I’ve just completed my PCC-level course. Coaching has been as much about helping others as it has been about self-discovery for me.
Q: What challenges did you face when establishing yourself as a coach?
I started during COVID, which was challenging because I couldn’t meet people face-to-face. That pushed me to set up my own website and find new ways to connect, like reaching out to my university network. Another challenge was the fact that coaching isn’t a regulated profession in the UK. For me, proper training and accreditation were essential. While clients may not always look for credentials, I wanted to know I was doing it right—for their benefit and mine.
Q: What moments have made you proudest in your coaching journey?
The proudest moments are when clients take what we’ve discussed and apply it in their lives. The real magic often happens between sessions when they try something new or take a step toward their goals. I’m constantly learning from my clients—their creativity and resourcefulness inspire me. Seeing them make meaningful changes and move forward is the most rewarding part of my work.
Q: As a sole practitioner, what are your thoughts on women in leadership today?
We’ve come a long way in the UK, but the work isn’t done. Unfortunately, in some parts of the world, it feels like we’re taking steps backward, and that impacts global companies too. For me, women in leadership is part of the broader DEI conversation. Coaching and mentoring play a huge role in helping women not only get into leadership positions but also thrive there.
Q: What advice would you give to future women leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs?
First, be open to opportunities—not every move needs to be upward. Sometimes a sideways move can make you more well-rounded. Second, my dad always told me, “If you don’t ask, you don’t get.” Whether it’s a pay rise, help, or a new opportunity—ask. Third, make the most of the support and networks available to you. In every role I’ve had, engaging with women’s networks and communities has opened doors, provided insights, and created opportunities.
Q: How has your idea of success evolved over time?
It’s changed a lot. For me now, success is about balance—doing what I love, which is coaching, while still enjoying my business development and marketing work. It’s having time to travel, to spend with family and friends, and to enjoy life outside of work. It’s not just about the next title or pay rise anymore; it’s about a fulfilling, balanced life.
Closing Thought
“Success isn’t just about reaching the top—it’s about finding balance, doing meaningful work, and enjoying the journey along the way.” – Nicole Weiner
