Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a single mom to four boys—13, 12, 10, and 6. My youngest has a genetic condition, and my oldest has a heart condition, so I’ve had to learn how to advocate for them fiercely, especially in medical and educational settings. I’ve also gone through my own challenges, including struggles with mental health and substance use. I started using substances in my teens and remained in that cycle until my twenties. I’ve now been clean from narcotics for 15 years.

What led you to take control and turn your life around?
The real shift began in 2020 after I experienced a second-trimester miscarriage. That triggered a deep spiral into depression and daily drinking that lasted for about two and a half years. But in 2022, I had a powerful realization—I deserved better, and so did my children. That’s when I decided to make a change. I stopped drinking and dove headfirst into personal development, learning from mentors like Bob Proctor, Tony Robbins, and Jim Rohn. I created a vision for the life I wanted and started building it, step by step.

How did your transformation lead to your current role as a life coach?
Through my healing, I realized that people had always come to me for support—I was the rock in my family. But I had never been that rock for myself. Once I became that for myself, I knew I could help others do the same. Now, I coach women in recovery to move beyond survival mode and into a thriving life where they can create and live a life they love.

Tell us more about your coaching program.
I offer two one-on-one sessions and two small group coaching sessions (of five people each) every month. I believe small groups are powerful because we learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives. My coaching is structured as a 12-week course focused on helping women create their personal vision, align with that vision, and become the person who can bring it to life.

How do you currently reach out to people or spread awareness about your work?
Right now, my outreach is primarily through social media—LinkedIn, my Facebook business page, and a Facebook group. I’m also working on launching a newsletter, but that’s still in progress. Most people find me through referrals, social media interactions, or word of mouth.

Do you face any challenges in your entrepreneurial journey?
Absolutely. My biggest challenge is brand awareness—just getting the word out that I’m here and I can help. As a solopreneur, it can feel overwhelming to manage everything. Thankfully, I do work with a business coach who helps guide me through the technical and strategic aspects.

What are your goals and aspirations for the future?
My goal is to empower at least 20 women by the end of this year through my group coaching program. I want them to understand that perfection isn’t the goal—progress is. Healing is possible, and life can be beautiful even after adversity.

What keeps you motivated through it all?
My children. They are my biggest motivation. I want to be a living example for them—that no matter what challenges you face, you can always grow, learn, and redefine your path. Just because something happened in your past doesn’t mean it defines your future.

Lastly, what message would you like to share with our readers?
I believe everyone deserves to live a life they love, regardless of their past. Your past is not your prison—it’s a place to learn, grow, heal, and move forward.

Mika’s story is a powerful reminder that healing is not only possible but transformative. Her courage to rise above life’s deepest challenges and dedicate her life to helping others do the same is what truly makes her a beacon of hope.
