Lori Gregory: Helping people move from sleepless to full of life

Lori Gregory’s journey is a powerful reminder that healing often begins with listening to our bodies. With over 25 years of experience in sleep medicine and a deeply personal battle with burnout, gut health issues, and chronic sleep deprivation, Lori transformed her lived experience into a mission: helping people restore balance through sleep, nutrition, and movement. Humans of Fuzia features Lori because her story speaks directly to women who give endlessly to family, work, and society—often at the cost of their own well-being. Her work echoes our shared belief in She for She and He for She, inspiring our global community to prioritize health as a foundation for purpose and impact.

Interview

Q: Lori, can you tell us about your professional journey and what led you to this path?

I come from a background in sleep medicine and have worked in a sleep lab—mainly with pediatric patients—for over 25 years. Interestingly, I didn’t plan to become a sleep technician. After being a stay-at-home mom for nearly a decade, this opportunity simply came my way, and I stayed with it. Over time, especially after working night shifts for nearly 20 years, I realized how deeply sleep affects every part of our health.

Q: At what point did sleep and nutrition become personal for you, not just professional?

For a long time, I didn’t honor my body. I barely slept, didn’t prioritize nutrition, and believed I could “catch up later.” Eventually, my body paid the price—gut issues, chronic fatigue, and overall imbalance. A naturopathic doctor once told me, “It’s all about energy in the cells.” That changed everything for me. Within days of changing how and what I ate, my health began to transform. That was my awakening.

Q: How did this experience influence your decision to study nutrition?

That experience planted a seed. I wanted to understand the science behind what was happening in my body. In 2017, I went back to school and earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health. It changed my life and helped me see health as a system—where sleep, nutrition, and movement are deeply interconnected.

Q: You often talk about the three pillars—sleep, eating, and exercise. Why does sleep come first for you?

Sleep is foundational. Without proper sleep, you can’t exercise effectively, and your food choices suffer—you crave sugar and quick energy. With my background in sleep medicine, I’ve seen how sleep deprivation disrupts everything. That’s why I lead with sleep and then layer nutrition and movement on top of it.

Q: Can you explain the model you’ve created for your work?

I’ve developed what I call the SEE Model—Sleep, Eat, Exercise—built on a foundation of energy and balance. I also created the 7-5-30 Method:

  • 7 hours of sleep
  • 5 servings of fruits and vegetables
  • 30 minutes of movement daily

It’s simple, practical, and sustainable. I meet people where they are and help them build one habit at a time.

Q: What is the vision behind your business today?

My work focuses on helping people move from exhaustion to vitality. One of my upcoming programs is called “Sleepless to Full of Life.” It’s about restoring rhythm, energy, and balance so people can dream bigger again—because when you’re constantly tired, even dreaming feels impossible.

Q: What challenges have you faced while building your business?

Time has been my biggest challenge. I work full-time, I’m completing my licensing hours, and I’ve had major family health responsibilities. I also faced learning curves with digital platforms and unexpected setbacks. But I’ve learned to honor timing—sometimes pausing is part of progress.

Q: You’re also launching a newsletter. Can you tell us about it?

Yes, it’s called The Dream Digest. Each letter of DREAM represents a theme—Discoveries, Rhythm, Energy, Awareness, and Momentum. It’s where I’ll share insights from sleep science, nutrition, and wellness in a simple, relatable way. Rhythm is especially close to my heart—our bodies thrive on consistency, whether it’s sleep, meals, or movement.

Q: What keeps you motivated during difficult phases?

I remind myself why I started. I want people—especially women—to feel energized enough to pursue their dreams. Sometimes, taking care of yourself is the most radical and powerful thing you can do.

“Your body is always speaking to you—rest, nourish, and move it with compassion, and it will carry you toward a fuller, more energized life.” — Lori Gregory
