As a woman entrepreneur, what changes do you hope to see in the world and what opportunities are you seeking?
I would like to see us embracing our shared humanity. Here is my vision:
I see a world free of war and violence.
One where all cultures and religions are accepted.
Where all people are respected and treated with respect.
Where people live together in communities that model the values of contribution, collaboration, sharing and connection.
Where people are truly connected with who they are and the gifts they have to share.
Where creativity is valued, and everyone knows how to tap into and express their creative side.
Where people have the courage to reach out for support when they need to.
I see a world where people trust their bodies, value their own wisdom, and know how to say no.
One that believes in the power of groups and synergy.
That the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
A world where women and men stand together as partners.
(Excerpted from my new book Truths & Contradictions, pp. 155 & 156)
Women now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with men in the workplace, breaking through glass ceilings to reach the top. What are your thoughts on women’s leadership today?
As a member of Female Wave of Change, I believe feminine leadership holds the key to creating a better world; a more conscious, equitable, just, sustainable and peaceful one. By feminine leadership, I mean qualities such as authenticity, creativity, collaboration, emotional intelligence, inclusiveness, intuition—qualities typically associated with the feminine. That said, men as well as women, can learn and have these qualities.
Women have made great strides in certain countries such as Iceland, but not in others. We have a ways to go, yet there are some amazing examples of women leaders and more and more data supporting how women increase productivity, morale, collaboration, and lead effectively during times of intense change and uncertainty.
